When it's cold like this my garage door opener dosn't like to close the garage door. I have to A) hold down the button everytime it stops or B) go outside and pull down on the garage door to get it to come down while I hold down the button. It only happens in cold weather. I just replaced the sensors so I know they are good. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

the batteries are fine. When I hit the bottun it goes down about a ft then stops, it starts to go back up and I have to hit the button again to stop it. Once it stops I have to hold the button down again to get it to start to go down. Then it can go down maybe another ft before it stops again. Then I can repeat that step maybe 10 times before I get pissed and have to go outside and force it down.

I'm guessing the grease is freezing up and causing enough resistance to make the door think there's an obstruction.

should I mess with the tension screw?

To me it would only make sense that it would be the grease freezing since you say it does it only when it gets cold. What type of opener is it? Screw drive, belt, chain? What type of grease are you using? MAybe go and check out Sears and talk to them about what type you should be using?
