It's the India produced Tata Nano: The aluminium shell contains a rear-mounted 33bhp two-cylinder petrol engine and weighs about half a tonne. The standard version comes with the vital features: brakes, a four-gear manual transmission, seatbelts, locking, wind-down windows and a steering wheel. A small boot could store a duffel bag. It lacks a passenger-side mirror and has one windscreen wiper. The deluxe version will have air-conditioning while extras such as a radio and an airbag could be added.

This car passes NO crash standards, which is okay...india doesn't have those. They are expected to pass them in a few years which will hopefully allow them to sell ~ 700,000 of them in that time.

I actually think cars like this should be available here in the US too. As far as the safety issues go, two things 1) It's safer than a motorcycle and 2) No one forces you to purchase one. Get's 50+mpg in city driving, which for many would mean would make a great little commuter only car. The top speed is only 65 mph or so with the 33hp, but oh well.

Make a diesel version of the car and lo-and-behold you'd get 75-100mpg.

buy two then you'd have a pair of tatas :rolf

Another Milwaukee resident killed in a fatal Tata Nano accident:

Yet another wreck on capitol dr near 55th has claimed another
tree hugging resident, seams the tinted windowed SUV didnt
see the little bugger and just rolled right up on his #####
leaving Billy Bob from Brookfeild in a coma. Federal Transportation
officials are looking at killing SUV owners or stopping the import
of these little 4 wheel mopeds that are getting great fuel milage.

In a related note Exxon has vowwed to buy Tato Inc and burn
it to the ground, only a headstone reading "here lies John Tucker"
will be left.

You can get it with a CVT...in the deluxe version (also has AC and a radio!). But the standard is a 4 speed manual trans.

After doing a quick search, I found a Ford Fiesta. Mainly sold overseas, it said it was in america for a short time. I dont remember those things. I remember Festivas and then Aspires replacing them. The Festivas look slightly different then the Fiesta.

That's it...the ford fiesta! It was the Festiva that sucked ass! lol, j/k!

The fiesta's were light, very small, and pretty darn quick. You could toss them around like nothing else. My bud had a yellow one...actually kind of quick with just him in it. Was the closest thing to a mini that you could get in the US.

I had a 1990 Festiva for a short while, clutch was goin on it. Going up a slight hill, like a freeway overpass, the clutch would slip :rolf :rolf

Why would you need a tank like those to mangle this hunk of fvck? I would think that a RAV4 or a Geo Tracker would be enough to punch the tickets of those losers of the natural selection lottery bright enough to buy this turd.:rolf Hmmm, one misjudged oncoming vehicle and a whole 33hp at your disposal to accelerate you out of harms way... Gee, this could be the newest craze for those thrill seekers that like to shoot at tigers with slingshots...

I suddenly see a way out of having to purchase any future carbon credits for my Cobra. I invite all of you short bus riders to PLEEEAAAASSSEEE buy as many of these things as you can. If enough future Darwin award winners and their progeny hop into this gem and drive in the oblivious fashion of most Americans, I see a resounding drop in CO2 emissions. Just think, the supposed cause of the overblown threat of global climate change would eliminated in just a few short years, leaving the enviro-nazis scrambling for a new nonexistent boogie-man to try and frighten the world into submission with... :thumbsup

I'm with hitman. They should strap a small electric motor on it, call it a hybrid. Then proceed to hand them out to the panty-waste Liberal Greenies as way to cull the heard. **** it, paint it a bright green, with some bullshit spouting green slogan on the side. Then I'm going to buy myself a mid 70's Cadillac with the old 500ci motor. I'm going to personally make sure that it has low compression, rip off any related emissions equipment, run it straight off the header. Then I'll take my two-cycle 500 ci, noise and air polluter run these pansies down and do the world a favor. Funny thing about it that, no matter how soon they hear my "Caddy of Death" coming, they won't be able to get out of my way with their POS eco car. In their eyes, I will be killing the only two things that a greenie loves, themselves and the earth.
