2008 Chevrolet Impala SS
Black/Ebony Interior
Sunroof, XM, 6-disc CD, BOSE
High Polish Wheels

blah blah blah

My lease was up on the Equinox soon, so I just paid the end and turned it back in. Deals were too good to pass up on this thing. With working FOR a dealer group gets you some good pricing, GM really sealed the deal. I have a GM card that only had about $140 in earnings on it. I never use it. Anyways, I got a letter in the mail saying they rounded up my earnings to $2000. So that's over $1800 in free money. When we ran the numbers, I had a total of about $2100 in earnings I could put towards the car. Definitely different to drive than the Equinox. I only have 31 miles on the car. Haven't gotten on it yet, but ride is smooth and quiet.

I'm looking out the window at it remembering Pork's black impala w/ the black wheels. Trying to think if any wheels would look cool on this car. Kinda wondering what doing the "niteshades" or whatever for tinting front/back lits. ALL black would lok cool, haha

NO, but your's does JUNKY!!!! holy crap, hahahaha

love the avatar too!!!

I think I might see if I can trade these high polish ones for the standard ones, and then look at "black chroming" the wheels. That should look cool right? I wonder if the Cobalt SS wheels that are black would bolt up to this thing?

hahaha. fogger FTW.....

Not too keen on those wheels J, sorry man.

Pat - the current wheels are "chrome". They aren't really polished even though that's what the name states. They are very different than the other ones from the '06-'07 line ups I've seen. I'd rather sell these for the bit more than you can get the other ones for, and put that money towards the procedure. Guess it'll all come out the same, who knows. I think the Cobalt SS pattern is 5x110 so that won't fit, but I like that black anodized type wheel.

31mpg on some light 50 mph cruising last night, 24mpg on the way into work today in heavy traffic on 45 northbound

mauahhahah Those instant economy #s. Put 100-200 miles on it and let us know what AVG reads, its fairly accurate.

Im knocking down 18 with mixed driving in winter, 21 in summer and thats with it set @ 15.0:1 AFR and 42 degrees of timing in DOD and V8 at light load. I hope your foot has not been off the floor except in parking lots for that first 100 miles?

Tom, that was average over the course of a 30 mile round trip to The Bowery. And then the 30 mile one way trip into work :) I kept resetting it to see how it would do :)

I'll be hitting you up soon for the tune, maybe the shift kit that you had done

Yeah it will read that if you JUST reset AVG or it doesnt have enough miles. It will settle by about 75-100 miles on that tank to what its ACTUALLY getting.

Nice purchase Chris, we considered one of these about 6 months ago. Ended up holding off though, im waiting to see what the challenger looks like when it hits the lot.

Oh and Chris, once i get a 4x4 truck within this month, the monte is getting its cam and probably that 3.69 Drive chain and gears too... So The experience of doing it will be under the belt hint hint

That's good to know. I'll have to keep it as it is and do a week end estimate since that should be about 150-200 miles

Keep me informed and if it's an off day I can run up by you and be tool ***** or something and atleast be around to see how things are doing with the tranny crap. I got no probs with drilling the hole for the cam ;) can always get a black plastic stopper from home depot, haha.

Are you getting rid of the DoD then? doing the whole heads off, replace lifters, plug oil holes in block, thing, or just doing an LS2? I keep wondering if that LS2 cam or maybe even the cam from a new '08 Vortec MAX w/ the DoD would work. I think that got a bit bigger duration, but quite a bit more lift, then when coupled with your rockers, would be pretty cool

Ive got a LS2 cam combined with 1.8 ratio rockers, DOD can stay. Should be good for like a 40 HP pick me up. I want to investigate further about a LS2 short block and use the stock, shorter crank... My major worry was the starter mount, but thats bolted to the trans bell housing so no worries. I think if it went more than a cam that stock trans will not be long for this world which i dont want to replace just yet.

Im actually gonna lift the body off the K member enough to sild the cam out under the rail with a engine puller, or i might jsut yank the whole engine/trans combo at once.

Crawlin
01-04-2008, 04:44 PM
yeah definitely let me know. it'd be interesting to be there to see how everything is. Is there any hard parts for the trans yet? I know some of those Buick Regal GS guys have some wicked strong FWD trannies. Anything swappable to increase strength?

*kyle don't read this*
I want to try a 100 shot starting at 10% ramping up to 100% in 3 seconds. I think that "could" possibly keep the trans from instantly blowing, but who knows, probably will no matter what

I did see the mustang wheels swap conversations. I see it's not a "good" thing to do, but I think it'd be funny to toss some 5 lug stang Draglites skinnies on the REAR of the car.

kyle was MUGGING the car, it was funny to watch that pickup salting, then all of a sudden stop for awhile, then i looked and saw it was him. only thing i was disapointed at was when it pulls around front, and it was that toolbag Randy that drove it up there. automatic depretiation.

Chris-
How did you manage to use GM Card earnings with a GM dealership employee purchase? or did you not do the GM employee pricing?

Crawlin
01-07-2008, 12:05 PM
some cards can use it(the original GM cards that are blue i think) but no, i didn't use the GM employee pricing. it's like $100 above GMS maybe. Either GMS and no cards, or $100-200-300 over GMS and $2000 in earnings, simple math you know :)
