New Years resolutions are like DSM's They sound good for about 3 weeks then you break them and don't bring them back out for another year.

Well let me be the first in this thread to congradulate you on the three years with out smoking that is an awsome goal that you accomplished and continue to do so. I know I tried three times last year but gave in when I had too much stress.

With that said my resolution is

1. Quit smoking. I had my last cigarette about an hour ago.
2. I am going to be working out again. Last summer I was down to 15% body fat. In early december I was tested again and I am at 21%. my goal is to get down to 11 or 12%. Which isnt that hard for me to do.
3. get my debt paid off by spring.

STOP SMOKING!! anyone have tips for quiting cold turkey? this is gonna be hard!!

for me Clint ...it was easy...first off 3 years ago i had a fun ambulance ride to Columbia hospital...we thought i was having a heart attack....went to a clinic first with the sweats ..the whole nine yards....they brought in the crash cart....and brought out the paddles..that scared the crap out of me...i then asked for the wife to be in the room with me..i thought i was going to die...no shit....i had all the signs...so they called for the ambulance to pick me up and rush me to the hospital......got to say columbia is a great place....don't want to go back...but nice anyways....first thing they do is put this cream on my chest i guess to keep my heart going...or what ever...then they do the blood test and x rays....
wel,the blood test came back neg and same for the x rays....seems i have a panic attack...same symptoms as a heart attack...was in the hospital for 4 days anyways...seems they found a slight heartbeat miss...best way to tell it...so they kept me...then i had the dreaded stress test....fu(k that thing....i'm old and out of shape...it kicked my ass......came out of the hospital and have not had another cig since...so for me i had the crap scared out of me to quit....but Clint....the first week is the worst....after a week and a half...i snuck in a cig at home....i got sooooo light headed it scared the crap out of me again....3 years later...don't want one..don't crave one....people can smoke around me and it don't bother me.......all i can say...is you need to want to quit to quit or you'll never do it....but set your mind to it and trust me in the most 3 weeks you will feel better, sleep better and food will taste better....oh yea...you may gain a little weight...i did...but it was well worth it....GOOD LUCK WITH IT CLINT....I WITH YA 100%

thanks for the support! i had my last one at 11:55 and i made sure i didnt have any left over at work or in my truck. i know its gonna be tough and i dont really have a new reason to quit, just the new year. ive kinda tried before but i wasnt super serious about it. i just hate the what im doing to my body, the smell, the money, feeling like shit. the hardest thing is going to be going to a bar or hanging out with friends who smoke. but oh well, ittl be worth it in the end. thanx again wayne
