Well i just took a trip down to the local dealer to ask around about the rumored V8 colorado's due out after the 1st of the year.

Well after having the sales manager poke around on their ordering workshop, it looks like the 5.3 powered Colorado will only be available in what appears to be a 2 wheel drive sport model... No official statement on their info or hard facts that this is even true.

I may end up with a 3.5 I5 again since i had alot of fun with that first colorado and a big loose converter.

Yeah those articles have been around for a while now. I had an 04' Z71 4x4 with intake, exhaust, 3500 stall converter and towards the end a 100 shot. It was pretty ******* quick for a 5 banger, prolly ran high 13s with all the above items working together, i had no tuning for it either at the time.

But the 3.7 has about 20 more HP than the 3.5 i had. Im looking at an 08' inferno orange crew cab Z71 4x4.

I would imagine they'd get the v8 with the 4x4...eventually. It's not like it's too hard to do since it's been done with the H3. I'd just be patient tom...if after 6 months there is nothing announced, then go for the 3.7's....

I'm with dan on this one, colorado looks like a bunch of body lines a gm designer threw together with his eyes closed.

Im not suprised it would only be offered in a 2wd. If they offered the 5.3 in a 4x4 it would decrease silverado sales as that is there standard V8 engine.

There prices are somthing to be desired though, The colorado/canyons seem to be a bit overpriced. There priced very close to the silverados. If i was in the market for that type of truck in a 4x4, I would most likely go to dodge or toyota.

I have had good luck with the performance and towing capabilities of my prior colorado, yes its only rated to tow 4K, but i have towed 7K with it several times, and all the way to illinois and back several times.

im correcting myself, base engine for a 1500 WT is a 4.3 liter :rolf :rolf

Dont know anyone who has a reg cab long box 2wd stripped out silverado with a 4.3? Contact p0rk, he'd be happy to show you his 1995 he has for sale. And I've seen 4.8s out there. I saw LOTS of them on dealer lots when the new models changed up to this current GMT900 chassis. Now they are gone. They went somewhere.........

People get the 4.8 when they just want a truck for it being a truck, not because they need it for the capabilities of a truck. Im talkin about soccer moms. remember them soccer moms tony? they are the reason for IFS in full size trucks. DAMN THEM FOR GIVING TRUCKS A NICE RIDE!!!!! :fire :fire :rolf :rolf

i heard 5.3 only in the canyon?

now what sense would that make? the canyon is identical to the colorado just with different sheet metal.

that would be like GM putting the 5.3 only in sierras and not silverados :rolf

Lol yes, electric brake controler and weight distribution hitch with sway bar. The thing did 80-85 mph on the highway with that trailer and the camaro in it... Granted it was buzzing at 3K in 3rd gear the whole time and knocking down 10mpg:rolf

suprisingly, alot of older silverados like 99-02, 90% of the ones i seen were always the 4.8L Its like the 96-98's most of those were 305's too over the 350., alot more were 4.3s lol
