Today has been one of the roughest days I can say I've ever had.
Our family pet Osa (spanish for bear) passed away. She has been mildly sick for a week now,we took here to the vet and then a specialist in Port Washington that could do blood work,her liver enzyme's were high so they suggested x-ray's. we did so and found she had a grossly enlarged liver and the only treatment was surgery and chemo. My wife and I took her home so David,Vicki and myself could say our goodbye's in the comfort of our home.
We have just returned from the most gut wrenching thing I have ever had to witness. it was peacefull for Osa,she just went to sleep.

Its never easy, taking my dog (who basically grew up with me) to the vet to put her down was easily the hardest thing ive ever done on the way. She was suffering and knew she would be up in the sky chaseing all kinds of birds around. I actully stoped twice on the way there just because it hurt knowing where i was taking her. But in the end its better off that way.........My condolences

Wow sorry to hear. Although I really don't know the feeling because I have never had to put a dog to rest. I have had dogs that ran away and got hit by a train. That was terrible enough. Our last dogs we unfornately had to surrender them because we were moving out of our house and it wouldn't have been fair to them for us to keep them.

i went with my grandmother to put her dog to sleep....watching that happen is very difficult...i don't want to ever have to put my lab down....

I can understand what you're going through, it sucks when their time is up... At least you had an indicator that something was wrong, my last two dogs just got old, went to sleep one night and never got up again :(

She sure was an awesome dog. I'm not really a dog person, but if I could pick one to choose, it would be Osa. Absolutely beautiful, both personality and looks.
