What can you expect to pay for a used one?

Anyone know of any problems with them?

Well it all depends how new.. but expect to pay around 30K or better.

Wheel hop issue and or broke rear suspension stuff is the main issue.

I had tried buying an 05' with 9K on it last spring and that was on the lot for 39,999.

Sweet car, I always liked the idea of luxury caddilac cues with the heart of a f-body or vette. RWD 6 speed LS Caddy? If it wasn't for price these things would be much more popular.

That's why I want one. Plus with two kids it will be eaiser than getting them in and out of my Mustang.

I found a 04 on ebay in the mid 20's.

No, I still want a notch back for a track car, but I think I am going to pursue the CTS-V for a cruiser. They are just plain sexy. As an added bonus the wife really lilkes them too.

The problem is that I cannot find any in the area.

I've seen them out there for under 30G...saw one for ~27G recently. A quick check of autotrader within a 100 mile radius:

when using autotrader, always widen the search area to 50 miles minimum (I used 100 miles). I also use the enhanced search options...on something like a CTS-V, you'll find no special designation...so most use keyword search. I find it best to search ALL CTS's, but put a control on it so it shows only CTS's with manual trans and v8...aka, a CTS-V

Distance isnt a problem for a great price, I got my 98 Camaro Z28 with only 75,000 on the dash for $8,000 flat, from a guy in IL, 1 owner (yay me 2nd), garaged. Drove to pick it up, well worth it!

Hey, I'll look around on the internet tonight, i seem to have good luck finding cars.

ForcedSS on here His Father-in-Law (?) Has a silver one, and the thing is pretty quick for a Big four door. I say get it. Or for the Same price you can get a 04+ Audi S4 (4.2L V8 AWD 6spd)

You could also wait a couple months and pickup a Pontiac G8 for around the same price as a used CTS-V? Little bigger car on a nicer platform with a warranty and no fear of how it was treated by it's previous owners.

No 6 speed manual option for the G8-spot... 6speed auto however and no L76, but the venerable LS2 instead. Gawd damn subaru logo, flag people to our south west get all that junk instead, and a vegimite samich cooler to boot!

To start with no Manual, but from what I've seen the 09 which will come out in 08 will have the a manual options.

Which I know is no help if he wants one in the very near future. I want a CTS-V as well, but if the G8 is bigger that will be a better option IMO.

Want_Notch
12-17-2007, 02:25 PM
It has to be a manual plus I am not a fan of the G8.....There is just something about the CTS-V's that I love. I found a silver one I am going to look at this week.

Now the only problem is that I have to figure out how to get my mustang there to trade it in.

Almost bought one of these before deciding on the TBSS for the AWD. But 6 sp manual + rwd + my wife + snow = me paying a lot of body shop bills.

You should be able to get a nice one (~30,000 mi) for the mid to high $20's after bargaining. Certified used will give you warranty and so forth if you want that.

The first years (2004 for sure and I think 2005) had the LS6. Newer ones have the LS2. Basically same hp rating, but LS2 might be a little more torquey with the 6.0 displacement. All were 6 sped manual. There were very few options as most were standard. Nav system and sunroof I think were some of the few check boxes available.

You can find nice ones out there if you're patient. Autotrader.com and even E-bay are good spots to watch.

Good luck!

I want one as well, I dont really want to shift the gear myself tho, and it would be a DD for us and I know that car is absolute rubbish in the snow.

The list of 3 this is the cheapest one. Check the air intake, looks like someone may have been spraying it. :rolf

My dad bought an new '04 back that year. He daily drove the thing. Even in winter. He just bought a set of winter wheels/tires off of tirerack.com and said he never had a problem with driving in the snow with it. He could knock down 29mpg if he tried. He traded that in mid last year w/ 34k miles on it and they gave him $29,500 for trade in. His had everything you could get

So prices should be coming down. The silver ones I think are the baddest ass looking ones.

i think that one would be worth it though if it's coming with an extended warranty through GM for 100k miles, as long as it's the MajorGuard GM warranty and not just a powertrain one
