Snow mobiles can be purchased with a trailer for $1500 and up. I always thought they were more. Then again there similar in price to Personal Water Crafts, new ones come out every year and theres always people dumping newish one for the 2008 models. And snow mobiles that are a 2000 model are now considered old :confused:rolf

Now the only shitty part is finding trails, this is why I want to move to Caledonia because I'm told there are trails in Racine.

So for you snow junkies where are the Racine trails ?

if you dont live close to them its kinda a pain to get to them but i don't care and dont have a trailer to tow it to a place and drop it so i ride the ditch to them..

So what your saying is your not exact close to them but ride in the drainage ditches to get to them ? Do you ever get pulled over or bitched at ?

One of my co-workers lives near 6 mile and they do the same thing im assuming.

I will be purchasing a home in caledonia for sure so ill buy a sled then, dont even need a trailer then.

-resale value on sleds are sh!t
-maintenance costs on sleds are insane
-you need a certain skill set to work on them/maintain them
-you have to store them for 90% of the year

I'm not sure why we have 5 of them

yeah my parents live about 3 blocks south of 6 mile down by the lake.. so its along the side of the road to 6 mile and then in the ditch or in the gravel edge of the road...
nobody bitches about it. everybody that lives in the area has been doing it forever its normal in the area people expect it..

Up by me in Ixonia/Jefferson County there are the trails just off of hwy 16 and everywhere else around me. the problem is that I have been looking for a cheap sled and I cant find one for shit. the best Ive seen is around $600 for a good running older one but thats just a bit much. I only want one to putt around one and just use every once and a while, any ideas? or does anyone have a cheap good running beater they want to get rid of? Sorry man Im not trying to hijack your thread.

From 8 & 9

Under most circumstances you cannot operate a snowmobile on any
highway or road.

Under rare circumstances when you are
permitted on a roadway, you must comply with all posted
roadway speed limits.

Riding on roads illegally is the most common violation.
Stick to the trails and snowmobile routes.

^ thats for riding on the road, litterally.

also john it states that if there is a ordiance its illegal.

snowmobiling on a new sled FTW. IMO it is worth every penny to upgrade every couple years!!! i am already looking at my new sled for next year, will be trading in my 2007. i would give up ALL my other toys/possessions and ride around on a ten speed all summer to keep my snowmobile!, even if i can only drive it 4 months out of the year!!

520 miles logged so far this season!

Ditch riding FTW. Catch me!!

Yea, sleds are cheap used. Thats why it's great. You will never ever do anything that compares. I have riddin some pretty wicked street bikes but this is by far better. You are strapped to a rocket. And my sled is nothing compared to whats out now. Still a blast.

idk, when you crack that throttle for that first time for the season, the thoughs of payments just go away, id trade drag racing and moto x for 12 months of snow any day.

you realize how long it took the rest of the industry to catch up to polaris's clutching?

well until that POS team clutch came standard polaris pretty much had the BEST working setup period.

yea cuz all the whinny ***** 2 stroke teams knew they would get there ass handed to them by a four stroke in stock class so they only race mod.. last time a yamaha was on the podium was brainerd mn last year when they won. they didnt make the main at the opener in duluth cuz it makes enough power and torque to spin the drive axle sprocket off the shaft.:D

oh come on, polaris breaks a clutch on clints machine thats already 4 model years old and its because its a polaris, but a factory sponsored race team with unlimited funds and man power cant keep a stock drive shaft togeather for a race and suddenley its becase of the torque

my clutch was worn out, i still trail rode it all last weekend. the team clutch is ok, backshifts are awesome, but gives a little up in a drag race. i would switch to a button style if i didnt have reverse
