Mickey has Automotive Attention Deficit Disorder.

I like to think of it as the never-ending quest to sample all that automobilia has to offer.

cooler range plugs, 3" downpipe, 180 degree thermostat, custom airbox/intake, 3.4 pulley, get it tuned by one of the 30 people around with HP tuners... you'll be in the 13s easily

How well do the trannies hold up on these 3800SC cars? I've heard that the ones on the regular 3800 motors weren't very durable, but I would assume that they beeefed 'em up for the SC motor.

Same colors as the car in BadAzzGTA89's sigpic, but no sunroof and different wheels.

I love it so far. Had to put an outer tie rod end on it, and I'm thinking that the SC coupler needs to be replaced as the blower sounds like it has marbles in it at idle and has a bit of play when you rotate the pulley back and forth with the belt off.

Minor stuff, runs like a swiss watch and really hustles even stock.

i did it. just because YOU didn't like your gtp doesn't mean others don't do well with them. if you had bad luck with modding, sorry yours was a pile. as for the transmissions, the N/A 3800 will run forever, the trans as well. on the L67 cars, the HD transmission WILL take a dump at some point if modded. possibly even if its not modded. with light mods mine started to get loose around 95k

What exactly goes wrong with them? Is there a fix for the recurring issues?

I been told to just keep it in performance shift it is supose to be easier on the trans and drive in 3rd in the city and keep a clean filter!
I for one only "give her" every once in awhile:)

yes i did, 3.4 pulley, plugs, t-stat, a tune, made my own intake, and a used 3" downpipe. in my case i had friends that helped.... but its very doable.

as for the trans, its meant to run at the stock level, any added stress makes it go poof. keeping the fluid and filter fresh will help, also if you have it tuned, having the pressure in the trans increased will help

over all the 3.8 is one of the best engines that gm ever made....however I would get rid of that dexcool crap that is in there...I have seen and know too many people who had to have the intake ficex because of it, and it is not a cheep fix. Other than that they are very reliable cars....Talk to DaytonaPaceCar aka Fred...I believe he has one of the fastest ones on here and I know he drives the snot out of it

I also went 13's with a 3.4, plugs, u-bend delete, and conical filter where the stock box was.

As stated talk to Fred.
