Thanks Wikked, for taking the pic...it's funny, the picture makes the car look for cleaner and sharper than it actually is! (which isn't saying much)

Anyways here she is:
http://www.wikked.com/bcm/7-27-07/01.jpg

The car, as it currently sits:
Engine: Recon built 318 short-block. Stock rods, .060 over pistons.
Heads: Home ported 360's. Uses the stock 1.88 valves. Milled .040 to get compression to stock 318 levels (318 and 360 heads use different combustion chamber volumes).
Camshaft: Summit "big cam". They only have two a small one and a big one. The big one is tiny by virtually anyones standard...218/228 degrees duration @ .050, .441/.441 peak lift, 114 degrees LSA. But at 62.95 for cam AND lifters, the price was right.
Intake: Eddy performer RPM. Leftover from the sold 360.
Carb: Holley 750 DP. Just a little adjusting of the idle...and it does great. Runs a little rich at WOT, oh well. Holdover from the 360
Headers: Hedman 1 5/8th, too small for the 360...fine here.Flows into crush-bent 2.5 inch duals with thrush's "super-turbo-hemi" mufflers.
Ignition: MP electronic ignition. Another holdover from the 360.

Rest of the car: 833 4 speed manual trans (2.65/1.92/1.33/1.00:1), "stock-and-newly-broken-in-three-pieces" shifter (the 1-2 shift is mostly fine...2-3, 3-4, 4-2 present problems...currently stuck in 4th gear), 8 1/4 rear end (surprisngly strong) with auburn limited slip, 3.90 yukon gears, stock axles.

Tires: Farm and Fleet mud&snow whitewalls. Upgraded from 185/75R14's to 205/75R14's mounted on stock, 5.5 inch wide wheels.

If it wasn't for the shifter, I'd be taking it down to GLD tonight to see what it'd run...no point in going down just to miss gears. As it sits, assuming good shifter, I'd guess this was a low 14 second, maybe high 13 second car...with the small cam, it's all done by 5000rpm. It'd probably be better suited with 3.23 gears right now, but this engine is very temporary. When I finish the tranny in the CSX, I am putting together a 360 short-block to stick under the heads...the idea is just to stick a big ol' cam in it with high compression (11.0:1 or more) pistons, with the current heads and see where she ends up. Hope to have it ready by october.

Currently, the guy who purchased the 360 from me has the fastest valiant in the state (or at least faster than mine)...his is a 65 valiant and probably weighs in at 2800 pounds to mines 3600-ish. The old 360 was mid 13-ish in my car. It's problem was it had a small-ish 224 @ .050, .450 lift, 112 LSA cam in it, that I (for curiousity sake) installed 4 degrees advanced (it already had 4 degrees advance ground in...for a total of 8) after having wiped two lobes on a much more agressive cam earlier (232/238, .542/.550, 108 LSA). The difference in performance b/w the two was stunning. One sounded mean and went like hell...the other, was docile, but still strong.

When we pulled the engine, we had to change front timing covers/water pumps, intake manifolds...so the cam swap was easy. He is now running a compXE284 (240/246 @ .050, .507/.510 lift, 110 LSA) and again, the difference in performance is fairly dramatic.

When is it coming out again? Maybe we can meet up?

I'll be working on it this afternoon (seeing if I can get the shifter to work, or use an aftermarket unit i've got laying around). I'll probably be out this weekend in it...let me know.

Since I'll be building a different engine, no reason for it to go into hibernation.

You say it hasn't been to the track, although those look like numbers on the back window to me. :thumbsup

You say it hasn't been to the track, although those look like numbers on the back window to me. :thumbsup:rolf I f I said it hasn't been to the track, then that was in error. I just haven't gotten any good slips. But as far as with the 318, I HAVEN'T been to the track with it...just with the recently sold 360. When I first got the valiant in 2000, I was probably there at least once a week, sometimes 2x.

Last year I went once, I kept missing third gear/4th gear. It was the 3rd engine I've run in it. First was stock 318 (16.7's). 2.0 was a basic cam/headers/4bbl 360 (13.7's). Then version 2.2 was same short-block, bigger intake, carb, professionally ported heads by a small block mopar specialist, bigger cam, and better ignition (12.9). Version 2.2 spun a couple rod bearings, paving the way for 3.0. 3.0 was virtually the same as 2.2, with better pistons, rings, bearings, fully balanced, better cam, same heads with port-matching, bigger carb still, and better trans with more advantagous gearing (the old trans spread was 3.09/1.65/1.00/.73). Alas, after two trips out (and being utterly amazed how much faster it felt), it wiped two lobes...necessitating a cam swap I thought would be very very temporary, and thus didn't care that I had put a small cam in with a disadvantagous advance, thus creating version 3.3. Eventually sold the long block before performing a swap back to a bigger cam.

So this is version 4.0...but 5.0 should make it utterly obsolete.

So version 3.3 went twice down the track, coasting through the traps each time....

Only got through the 1/8th in decent shape once...even then, the speed indicates I had missed. Ran an 8.7x @ 72-74ish mph...should have been in the mid 80's I'd reckon. Wasn't getting a good 60 either...first run was a 2.4, second was a 2.2. Prior attempts were usually high 1.8's/low 1.9's.

That's where I believe I actually broke the shifter body in two/three peices, lol.

After the 2nd run, I just gave up in disgust.

I'm up for anything J...your idea of a buger stand somewhere is pretty good...more fitting with the "car crowd"

less fitting, but also worth consideration is the wingy places...
