Does a plane crash every year there?

Pretty much, not including the what seems like 10 crashes that happen on the way up to EAA.

Cool show, and I don't want anything to happen to it. But could you imagine a car show where every year 5-10 people are killed attending it? Bet it wouldn't be around anymore.

yeah, that's pretty outrageous. Here's to hoping everyone is alright and it's just misinformation

half the planes that crash are all the experimental home built things that maybe shouldn't be going on that long of a trip. but who knows.

any news coverage on it? say how it happened?

The pic I just saw on the news looks like one of them may have been the plane that we take pics with at our show. I'm sure there have to be a few painted up that way though. One pilot confirmed dead, but they didn't have many details at all.

'Precious Metal' and 'Stang' were the two planes involved.

The Eaa's Mustang is 'Paul I'.

Christ... Take ANY plane but the P-51's... man.

Condolences to those affected.

That's horrible news. EAA is by far the busiest airport in the world when its in full swing. had it not been for my bum foot, I would have headed up there this weekend.

yeah only there is over 600000 people in attendance and over 10000 planes in attendance its a bigger diff. than a 100-200 car show. i am still waiting to see more info on this

1 Dead in Crash at EAA ShowThe Associated Press
OSHKOSH, Wis. - Two planes at an experimental airshow collided while landing Friday, killing at least one of the pilots, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The FAA said the accident with the two P-51 Mustangs happened at 3:17 p.m. after the planes finished a performance at the Experimental Aircraft Association's annual AirVenture show.

The collision left one pilot confirmed dead, the FAA said. The agency released no other information. P-51 Mustangs are single-seat fighters that were used in World War II.

FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board investigators were on the scene on Friday.

On Monday, a veteran pilot trying to break a speed record en route to Oshkosh was killed when his small, experimental plane crashed into an apartment building and playground in Switzerland.

The pilot, identified as Hans Georg Schmid, a former Swissair pilot, had been trying to break a world record for a solo single-engine flight. He had planned to fly more than 4,970 miles with a C1-D class of plane, aiming to reach his destination in 30 hours.

The annual convention is considered one of the world's largest gatherings of recreational aviators. It draws more than 600,000 people and 10,000 planes from around the world. The weeklong event ends Sunday.

Thats too bad to see something like that happen to pilots and too TWO P-51's!! Last I checked their were only 25-30 planes like that in flyable condition. Unlike the B-17 only 7 are in flyable condition!! I hope the other pilots story turns out for the better. It saddens me to see two pieces of history wiped out like that, but it's only metal right?

only metal and bodies, found out the guy that died is the father of the pilot in the plane he hit. they were trying to land together they both touched down he then came back up a bit and over corrected. what a sad day for the family and aviation community

That's an even sadder story. That family will need alot of support to get through this.
