been awhile since i could get on the internet but i just wanted to let everyone know (again) that tom does awsome work. The night i picked the car up tho the car was doing some wierd surging thing?? Any ideas tom? it had gone away i traced that it had a slight misfire but that has gone away as well. other then that the clutch is awsome and i'll be looking into some gears that i might also have put in. time shall tell. Alright everyone go back to what they were doing before they read this boring rant of something we all know!! :rolf

Yeah im not sure on the misfire/surge dealy. I only put about 5 miles on it after the clutch. Not much i would have got into that would create a running issue on the back end of the motor but if it comes back i can takea peek at it. Gears will deff help that clutch live alot longer too.

BTW i fixed my coolant drip and fixed a loose crossover V band clamp that was causing an exhaust leak and affecting the 02 sensor reading for the pass side bank and would make it run fat as hell, its like night and day diff in quickness and spool up time from when you saw it.

sweet i dunno what the surge thig was either but i've been driving put about 150 miles on and it hasn't done it since that day... dunno ah well. I'm also looking at just rebuilding the factory rear with some 4:10's for now they should hold for a while i don't plan on stickies for a few years. Thats awsome stupid clamps lol if your girlfriend could drive stick you should have her drive it and you be behind it to hear that turbo :D

Yup, Tom really know's his stuff and works really fast too.

He's the only person I'm going to let touch my car from now on. Oh and he's prices are great too.

Do the 4.10's you'll love them.

Just to let you know be carefull with what gears you try . Tom tried twice to do my motive gears and they whine like a mother. Wish I would have not done gears. I tried GM motive 3:73 with bad luck. Rick

if the whine is not horrible i won't mind it the radio is there to fix that!

Yeah this is a good point guys. Before you get real gung ho on gears, its a 50/50 shot on a 10 bolt 7.625" if they are gonna make noise or not. Its called the F body curse but hs alot to do with ring gear size on after market gears.

So keep that in the back of your mind, if you can deal with the chance of mid range speed howl, then OK, but if not, save the money and go with a 12 bolt or something later on. I had tried to get Ricks car quiet twice and with a decent looking patern on the gears it still makes a shit ton of noise.

Ive only had two set of motives that were dead quiet and they where the made in USA ones, the italian made ones must have a diff alloy as well but those are the noisy ones. You are never sure which ones you will get.

GM brand OTC gears from an S10 pickup that are a 7.625" ring gear will be quiet, but are costly.

So i do have some reluctancy to do gears unless you know full well what you are getting into.

Funny, Motive's are known for noise in the Ford world also. Luckily, we can just get FRPP (Ford Racing Performance Products) for like $20 more. :headbang

Im not sure of the brand i put in Yoo's car, they didnt come on the box to me. and had no brand markings. His does make some noise too on 5th 6th gears.

Fiz's car broke the driver side axle stub.

No hes got 2 used 04 stubs coming. Billet ones are like 400 a pop i guess.

This GTO is on drag radials too.

did he learn his lesson on launching? i don't consider an ls1 with ls6 heads cam a head cam car i like to think of it as a 05-06 gto :D

Motive performance gears in mine Tom. The whine isnt bad besides I cant hear sh!t with the music cranked.... I absolutely LOVE having the gears and wish I had gotten them sooner! As in 2nd mod after SFCs.

You guys suck.

Why do gears have to be so expensive for a roo!!!

I'm not paying $550 for gears then a another $150+ out to Tom for the install as well. $700 or more ain't worth .2 improvement, even though the fun factor would be thru the roof.

ProjectCamaro

Well the gears Tom installed in my car are Motive 4.10's. The only whine is on the interstate between 65-75mph while cruising in sixth gear. Otherwise they are quiet. Tom kept telling me he couldn't promise anything with them but I knew what to expect and was pleasantly suprised with how quiet they really are.

Dan the fun factor alone is well worth the money for them. Of course I had mine installed with the cam so they helped each other out but it really did help liven up the car.

My motive 4.56's in my old truck were dead silent......... Ive had very good luck with motive gear sets in the past.

no one answered my question lol you think if i put gears and bearings in the rear it'll hold for awhile yet? i mean i probably won't run at the strip very much at all this year.

as long as you are on street tires ie: no drag radials or slicks and you eliminate wheel hop with suspension mods, it should last you a bit.

lilws6
07-18-2007, 08:31 PM
well i rarely get wheel hop sept on those bumpy roads while slipping but i do need a new suspention as well. so mush i need so little cash :)
