Took a drive today and washed the car quickly, so I thought I would take some more pictures of my car. I want to get a new camera so I am trying to figure out how to take good pictures. Give me some advice! I know in some of the pics I have the tires the wrong way. I was in a hurry before it got to dark out so I didn't think of that. Let me know what you think!

I can give you one tip for sure: You always want the front wheels facing the camera if you have them turned, so that you're not looking at the tread. :thumbsup

Yes I know. I said in the beginning that I forgot. It was getting dark out and I was walking around taking them. I won't forget next time.:thumbsup

Honestly, the best way to learn to take good photos is:

a. Read the camera manual. This is especially true if it is an SLR as it has a lot of features and settings that will either make or break a photo.
b. Shoot a lot. You only get better with practice.
c. Go get a book from the library about photography. There is a ton of basic photo books that will help teach you about composition and the technical aspect of photography.

I have spent about 45 min per wheel before and they shine but not like they should. I have used a power ball on them and all that does is turn them black for some reason. It doesn't matter what speed I use. I then have to use more polish and scrub by hand to get the black off. I am using the eagle one billet polish on them and it does ok but in about to days they look like crap again. The day I took the pics I didn't polish the wheels. I just washed the car and I had the camera in the car so I thought I would take some pics for some practice. I was mainly trying to get good angles and have them come out clear. I was using a tri pod for the first time. You can take a shot at the rims, they are a pain in the ass. I have had other aftermarket rims before and none of them were this hard to maintain. Like I said, they look like shit in just a few days after polishing them. Any other good polish to try?

They are suppose to turn black when you polish them. If you haven't been keeping up on them they are going to need more than just a simple polish. You will need to use sandpaper and get the bad layer off completely. Then keep up with the polishing and you'll be fine.
I just polished mine today and they look really shining now. You'll also want to use some type of clear coat to protect them between polishes, I use Zanio's clear coat myself. All it really does is help the water spots from forming when they get wet until it rubs off at least.

If you do come to the show on Sunday take a look at my wheels and I'd be more than happy to give you some more tips then.

When they turn black it is very hard to get off. Is that normal? It takes quite a bit off rubbing to get it off. I guess maybe I am just doing it wrong. I will have to try the clear coat as well. I didn't know that I should do that. what type of sand paper should I use(grit)? These rims were pretty rough when I bought them. I thought it would be easier to clean them up than it has been.

Yup polishing takes a good amount of elbow grease.
Here's what I do:
Use any metal polish(I personally use Mother's Billet Polish)
The wheel will turn really black really fast. Keep rubbing changing over to new parts of the towel as much as possible
Get a new clean towel and rub it all off.
I then go over the wheels with Zanio car polish
Followed by Zanio's clear coat to keep them looking good.

But like I said before, come to the show on Sunday and we can talk. You can take a look at my wheels to compare them to yours, I bought them used as well so I know what you mean about getting them rough. I'm more than happy to help if you need it.

it is supposed to turn black. add more polish as it turns black and keep using the clean side of a towel. I have another polish that I use before the mothers to get the aggressive part done easier. afterwards a coat of a good polish or wax will prevent brake dust stains but does leave them a bit hazy.
