I really like cars that " dare to be different " but, this is too strange for me....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

What do you guys think of it?

I guess to each his own...

Here is a post from the owner I found....

"We (James the owner and I) have owned supras for years a decided we would take the best of both worlds and put in a 25mpg/1000 crank hp motor in a car that has alot of parts available to make it hook as well as MANY foxbody chassis speciality shops around here. The outcome is a 2300 pound car with the stock hood and hatch still on it and a motor that sits way back and opens up the bay to clean the look up a bit. This year we are putting in a stock motor using HKS 272 cams and a GT4276 turbo and at the same time trying to get a spare built motor ready in case. We are planning on flying Jobe Spetter out to tune the car and are looking to run a mid 8 on a conservative tune. Guess time will tell. BTW this will be driven alot on the street."

Thanks for all of your interests and comments!!

Its a great motor.........But in drag racing I would think that a SB V8 would still be a better choice.

While the Toyota inline 6 is impressive, it has relatively little aftermarket support, and no more from the OEM. I appreciate people who dare to be different, but I would be more inclined to do it in a radical street car, for the sake of getting attention at the car shows.

If that car owner races hard and wears out that engine, he'll start feeling the pain of having to spend time and money to maintain it. Running a Ford or Chevy V8 would be the better choice for regular competition, not because of size or brand loyalty, but simply because you can throw a rock out a window and probably hit someone with spare parts for a BBC, SBC, or SBF.

Huh? Its got aftermarket parts up the wazoo.

Kinda cool to see, and definately different. How much is the weight loss by going with the inline 6 instead of the V8? Anyone know?

like the other guy said thats completely false, the 2jz probably has the second largest aftermarket support for parts, the b-series hondas being number 1 and OEM? toyota still produces that engine TO THIS DAY, meaning you could walk into the parts department and order and brand new factory fresh 2jz........i love the idea personally:D

mmm this is a nice mix. i do like the inline 6 sound. now coming from a mustang you will turn heads and make eyes pop out. also quite a few people scratching their heads. you will shut up alot of the "V8s OWN" nobs

Yes it does.

Why?

Because a Ford car doesnt have a Ford motor, that makes a difference?

Ask Scottie K about that...:shades

While your at it, ask Scotty why he NEEDED to put his chevy motor in a Mustang!:thumbsup

It aint his motor making that car fast. Horsepower is the easy part!

I know the iron 2jz weighs more than an lsx, so the weight difference is probably moot, assuming an aluminum head sbf. Neat setup though.

The guy said they've done a lot of Supras so I can understand their desire to take a motor they know well and put it into a chassis that can bring out the full potential of the motor at the drag strip. No doubt you could go just as fast with a well built SBF/SBC/BBF/BBC/LSX/WTF/ETC. but that's not the point, nor do I think that the point is to be different. From what I gather they are limited by the Supra chassis and want to explore other options and the Fox body fit the bill. It's like taking a built SBC out of a 71 Monte Carlo and putting it into a Vega.

Ive always thought Chevy or any other engines in a Ford was wrong, and I always will. Same as the guys who build 32 Fords with SBC's.

You should say.....whats the difference between a 800 1000 1400hp supra.....they all run 10's.......BECAUSE THE DRIVER SUCKS!! There are alot of supras that run 9's 8's and some in the 7s. Some people are just haters!
