It would seem odd to get $100 for used ones when you can buy new universals for like $70-80

They do have some scrap value as they contain platinum, not sure how much you will get.
I remember hearing about thefts of big cats off big suvs parked in park and rides last year.

I suppose it depends on what it came from . The bigger the cat maybe the more platinum it contains. Well i guess I'll just take them in and see I'll let you know.

I think the newer the more money too, a huge 8.1 liter truck cat that is shiny and has some metal bluing will fetch more than a crusty rusty 15 year old y pipe lookin thing.

The crooks that buy them probably low ball the unscrupulous folks selling said $1200 cat too them for $50 :)

go to miller compressing down in the menomonee valley. you will get anywhere from $5 bucks a converter all the way up to $45 a converter. The $45 ones are like the older 80's style suburban cats, that were really wide and long, but thin. I got $45 for one of those once after I cut it off of my brothers 87 burban.

if they are O.E you can get around 40 bucks a pop.

not always. Ford converters seem to fetch the lowest amounts. I turned in some that said Ford right on em, and got $10 bucks each if I was lucky. But the place that will most likely pay the most would be Miller Compressing, considering they probably take in more scrap metal in milwaukee county then any other place around, and they got money to play around with over there.

Those mid 70's to mid 80's diamond shaped gm had some "pellets" in them that are think are more worthy vs. ford that is just honeycomb.

Catalytic converters is what AC Oak Creek was built to produce around 1972.

GM coverters the "double" or hour glass looking one gets alot for. and yeah i would say miller will pay the most. the thing is scrap yards do rip people off. look out for the one on state street. its like 54th? they were like 3 cents cheaper than the one on 67th and national. on the same day! i took my stuff back too. haha

i usaully take them to (i think) miller compressing in big bend. i got 30 a pop for two smaller gm work van cats, and 40 for a 2000-ish impala cat.
