This is my dads car, he paid $12k for it many years ago, would at least like to get his investment back.
74,350 miles.
Many parts replaced since purchase, I'm not all sure what.
Car does run & drive, but the battery seems to not be holding a charge.
I'll try and answer any questions.

PM me for his # if interested, thanks!

Just an FYI post, he better be prepared to drastically drop his price.

Late C3's (73-82) are bringing next to nothing right now, and with the combination of Cross-Fire, the paint issues, and the interior, well... lets ust say he might not get his 12K.

Not trying to dog the car at all, just giving straight info. Good luck to the seller.

I don't mean to poop on you either, but if he wants to sell it, here is something to compare to.

^^^ Not a Collector Edition :P

I agree with the interior though, the seats/wheel really ruin it.
Could get much better seats/steering wheel for ~$750.
The paint is only bad on the hood really.

But yea I told him he probably won't get that much, maybe more like $8-9k is a little more reasonable.

Disco ara vette. then owning one was just to say you had one. A whopping 140 h.p. it's a shame because I think they were actually half way decent looking cars for their day.

I believe in 82 you could even get a 305 in those cars.

One of my car dreams is to build a 75-79 Vette with a LS1/T56.

Killer.

82 Crossfire Corvettes had 200 HP factory rating.

Crossfires are very good running engines and reliable.

The 305 was available as a Kalifornia emissions car.

And why does EVERYTHING have to be about speed and poweful? That is a very cool car and was fast for its time, but that was a long time ago.

Collector edition does increase the price over the other Vettes.

$12k is a bit high, but not out of line. $8-9 is a better range.

Steering wheels are about $250, seats are in the $750-1000 range.

Plus the mirror T-tops are worth a LOT.

How many have you owned and driven? How many have you worked on? How many people have you known that have had one?

Ill tell you right now I have 2 84's with the stock engines. The blue one is my daily(summer) driver. I bought it with 55K miles and now has 117K miles. NEVER had a engine problem, miss or anything, and I beat the hell out of that car. Its been to Detroit twice, Bowling Green twice, and take it on numerous 5-6 road trips a year. Never let me down.

I have talked to over a hundered Crossfire owners over the years and NONE have all these MAJOR missfiring issues that everyone talks about.

Sorry about being a ****, but it pisses me off that everyone talks shit about Crossfires and no one ever had one.

I am not trying to hijack this thread, but making sure people dont make false statements that may turn a buyer away from this nice car. It is not perfect, but the price is not crazy, just a touch high.

those mirror tops look pretty coool. My dad has a 78 and he wouldn't sell it 2 years ago when offered 16K for it.

good luck with the sale. those are pretty cool cars.
What wheels are those? were those stockers? or era aftermarket ones?

Thanks for clearing the air FF :thumbsup

They are stock rims as far as I know, it's what came with the car when he bought it.

Crossfire has a bad rep because it was GM's first shot at fuel injection and when it messed up people didnt know what the hell to do, so they called it a POS. I wouldnt think it would be anyworse than a TBI car.

Well it is a TBI car, just 2 TBIs.

Wasnt even close to their first shot at FI. The Vette's had FI in the 50s. Several other FI iterations came and went along the way.

That said, I had an 82 Z28 with the Crossfire. Biggest pile of crap ever. NEVER ran right, horrible MPG and you were FORCED to beat the shit out of it to make it go anywhere.

That said, let's take nothing away from the car listed here. It's a great piece of history, just priced a bit high for it's condition.
