i'd say do a 350Z / G35 and do basic bolt ons and wheels.
Or do a used IS300 and maybe find one with a 2JZGTTE Swap or a NA-T

Nicoclub.com imo has been going down hill in the last 2-3 years. Everyone has some dumbass witty comment to say about something. and in general it's alot more "newbies" on there then people that really know there stuff. i used to live on Nico (post count is in the 3000) and i rarely ever go over there anymore.

saw a black mazda speed6 at great lakes about a month ago, it was running 12's all night long. no idea what was done to it, never got the chance to talk to the guy. I have the regular mazda6 with a 5 speed 4cyl and I get over 30mpg. Can't be that much different for the speed6, you can get that with a 6 speed tranny.

stay away from IS300's even if you have a perfect driving record ( insurance is OUTRAGEOUS ) thats why I got rid of mine

rx8, great off the lot performance, but doesnt take to mods all THAT well

350z great car, but with only 2 seats, I rather go for a g35, plus more luxurious!
