So it looks as if DSL or Satalite service is all that is available where im moving for internet. I refuse to pay the rediculous amount for sat service, so I need to know just how bad DSL is going to be. If any of you have it, let me know what you think.

If all you're doing is just 'surfing the web' it's just as fast as Roadrunner (cable). Have you had your address checked to see if you are 'close' enough for DSL...???

If not PM me your address and I'll check with my buddy to see how close you are, and yes it makes a HUGE difference.....

Well I have RR and my father has DSL and I can't tell a difference. At times his is actually faster, and not to metion all of the issues I've had with Time Warner's customer service. I'm actually going to DSL once I get off my lazy a** and get a house line.....

I've had DSL service for the last 4 years with tdsmetrocom. Never had a outage or a problem. For general web surfing you won't notice any difference from Time Weiner. If you download a lot of music and shmit you will probably notice a difference.
Matter of fact i had my service speed reduced from 1.5 to 756 to reduce my monthly bill. Because i do mostly web I couldn't tell any difference besides having more money in my pocket.:thumbsup

Yep, I agree. DSL won't seem that different from RR if you are just surfing.

doesnt it depend on how close you are to where your getting the connection from or something like that?

With DSL they will check your line to see if your close enough to get the connection speed. Otherwise they won't hook you up.

True, you have to be within such a distance to a station or whatever.

yea cause im like a 150 feet away from mine and the internet is fast.

Lots of variables with DLS. Distance, Home wiring, plan ect... Only one true way to know if you will like it!

As far as distance I think 15,000 feet is the farthest you can be from a 'tower', or whatever they call it. If you're farther than that it's the same speed as dial-up......
