fantastic. I was asking for help, not smartass comments. I happen to like my four wheeler very much, and with my 5 year warranty, I could care less what breaks, its $0 deductible. The four wheeler looks sharp, performs well, and has decent power for anything I do.

I'm confused... you have a warranty... but your asking how to fix it.

:confused

I'm going to assume that whatever he's done with it would probably void the warranty.

thats why i bought a polaris with a manual!! haha j/k ive changed the belt on my dads before and its not bad to do. not sure on a clutch kit though, if its anything like their sleds, its not hard but u need some special tools.

man I love the Polaris's we have, I just want to clutch them both. The one I want to clutch first is the 2003 Sportsman 600 twin (carb'd if it matters).

Not trying to be an ass but why jeopardize that great warranty by clutching that machine? You know damn well if any little thing goes wrong, they'll fight tooth and nail to blame it on the hotter clutch. That machine is stout enough. You'd be better off with an aftermarket muffler that thing if you haven't already. Gobs of power improvements to be had there and if you do a slip-on, the warranty is still ok if you buy the Polaris pipe. Had a friend do one and it really woke his machine up without making it terribly obnoxious in the least!

Edit: I just saw that you want to tackle the older one first. In that one's case, git r done!

Good luck no matter which path you choose.

/soapbox....

the older one will be receiving a clutch first in order to handle a pipe, intake, and a re-jet on the carb. the newer one will eventually end up with a polaris pipe, intake, and an efi tuner..... some day :D

Order a couple of Heelclicker setups and I will help ya out.
I did mine in about 1 hour with hand tools, and can safely say it was the best $200 or so I spent on the rig.
Heelclicker is the way to go, with custom weight setups for each machine/rider size/riding style.
Call me if you want my hookup.

prob a primary clutch pulley,so you can properly shim the spider for the correct belt clearance, and the secondary will need a big snap ring pliers.

where can I buy such tools? Is this a job for Snap On or Matco/Mac tools?

You don't need a puller.
For the newer one, you don't need a spacer either.
Not sure about the older one.
I loved my Heelclicker...instant, hard acceleration and a little more on the top end...plus less belt wear due to less slippage.
Google some reviews, webtard.

My late '04 didn't need a spacer, but the newer ones might.
The HC instructions will let you know.
It's really not a tough job at all, so let me know if you need a hand.
