Hot Rod Power Tour, Racine on June 4th!!

So I was just curious if anyone other than myself, is planning on coming to my town, that's right, good old ghetto racine, for the power tour on Monday?
It's going to be huge. I heard they're shutting down festival park, possibly the zoo, and all the shops downtown to turn the whole place into a big parking lot. I have been to the power tour at Miller park and also at Lambeau and it is by far the best auto event i have ever been to.

Hmm, I am actually off of work that day. I may have to go for a ride and check it out. Don't know my way around Racine real well though.

Well i can't give you great directions. But for someone who doesn't know their way around racine. I would just tell you to go 94 towards chicago, take highway 20 exit, east. Take it as far as you can go. once you get close to the lake on 20 you'll be close in down town and i'm sure there will be signs everywhere. plus you could just follow other classics i'm sure there will be a healthy stream of cars all heading down there in the morning.

just to name a few. there will be lots of trailers set up with goodies to buy and look at
Last time i went they had a dyno that was a semi 'trailer' people were just pulling their cars up and doing dyno pulls. it was pretty cool

Jacki and I have been on it since Cleveland.

First lag SUCKED -- City Traffic (7 miles in 2 hours) and Rain (worst in years)

We left to come home last night but will continue on Tuesday. (Free room and board)

This weather is horrid, I left work at noon just to come home and sit on my porch and watch cars go by, In other news I never thought I would have seen so many bad azz cars passing thru my "distressed inner city neighborhood" even the GM Performance Semi came by :) Saw my first GT500 on the street also, weird and cool to see.

Feel bad for the guys on slicks and skinnies, they are going half the speed limit :) And some dont have wipers :wow

It's pretty brutal. I was down hanging with the BCSM folks for like 3 hours and the rain was never quiting. There was like a 15 minute period where it stopped and started to get nice, but that quickly ended and went right back to downpours.

Yup drivers meeting around 7am and then fun runs down the strip till 9am when they head out for Springfield IL. I think the GLD gates open at 6am

yea i sat in the car most of the day with my dad then around 5ish we were getting ready to take off and the rain stopped. so I put the top down and people were like 'way to be optomistic'...then I said it's the only way to get his wheel chair out of the back and they laughed. so pushed him around for a while and left around 7ish. hopefully tomorrow will be better in springfield....my wife and kids are going with me to there.

I got down there with the cobra around 7:15pm and there was still a bunch of cars in downtown, had a blast parked with the show cars and it didn't cost me a dime. LOL

Matt and I had both cars down in Racine,but we only took my car downtown to the actual show after the rain stopped.

We took my car down to GLd this morning and drove on the tour route through Waterford which was alot of fun.

i saw you when you went past our school (Union Grove Hi). that was cool watching all the cars go by. alot of burnouts and brake Torque's. and our principle didn't even care. he thought it was cool. ive got about 50 pics on my phone of some of the cars.

The cars were angle parked on main street which was closed to traffic from 2nd street to 7th street, people milling about everywhere, bad ass rides some local, many out of staters. Cars from main to the lake on 5th St, Sam Johnson Way, and 6th St. Also cars and vendors all over pershing park,festival hall parking lots, the large boat launch parking lot and gateways lower parking lot. Living down here right near the venue was great, greatest thing I have ever seen in Racine.
The angle parked cars and all the people was probably a little like what cruising went on down there when people were racing some real classics in the 50's . The people that did that in Racine are now 60 and 70 years old, as a 27 year old car freak it was pretty cool to see, and the rides were some of the baddest around. Lotta $$$ thats for sure.

I wish I would have taken more pics for posting, the reason I dont take 8000 pictures is I probably wont be looking at them again and I have enough pics of just family stuff.
