A co-worker let me borrow is Canon EF 50 f/1.4 before I plunked down $300-ish on a prime lens, and I have to say I like it. I have taken so many great portraits of the kids with it but tonight I took it downtown for some shots. I compared it with the shots the kit lens took and for the first time the kit lens disappointed me.
Anyway, here are some shots, the rest are here: http://www.webtrendsguy.com/photobook/categories.php?cat_id=21

Some daylight pics with the lens:

Overall, if you are looking for a GREAT lens that is fast and don't mind being your own zoom, get this thing. That or drop $1200+ for the 1.2L.
