Ok... I'm trying to install a program off of a disk onto my laptop, but the CD Drive isnt working for some reason. Is there a way I can hook it up to my home computer and use the drive from that to somehow upload the program to the laptop?

network connection, put the program (if its just a small .exe file) onto the PC, then connect the laptop directly to the PC with a internet cable. both computers have to have sharing turned on, but it should work.

forget that ^^^ just share the CD rom on the computer with the good CD rom then go to the one with the bad one and map a drive to \\computername\cddrive and run the program there.

use a sandisk USB stick. or direct cable to cable link. or put entire disk contents onto a network.

or replace diskdrive.

or open up laptop, take out HD, make it a slave on your PC, install prog onto HD, then reinstall back on your computer.

What versions of windows?

XP for both

I have a USB 'link' cable thing that came with my File Transfer program.

I'd use that program, but I'd have to upload it from a cd, which is the whole problem.

Sharing the drive is probably the best way, both computers are hooked up to a hub or such, correct?

Thanks Steve-O, but Joey and I thought it would be easier to transfer the files from the disk to a USB memory stick and upload it to the computer that way. So I went to the store, bought one, and uploaded it just fine!

Thanks to everyone that helped! :haveabeer
