SlowStee

I just installed an Injen cold air intake in the maxima, and when I was finished with it all there was still a vacuum line left. Ive gone through the directions over and over and it says nothing about this line!

The vacuum line seems to be coming off of the transmission ? the car wont start either.

Ill have a pic up in a few minutes here..

anyone help me??:(

Are you sure it's a vacuum line...?

It's hard to tell in the pics, get your old setup and see if there's a difference in the number on 'hookups'. Process of elimination in the best way to figure stuff like that out.....

that's wierd. I would just go through the old connections on the factory intake as already mentioned. That's your best bet.

The only other thing I can think of is it's a vent tube for the trans. Don't hold me to it but I've had it happen to me before and now that I look at the pictures again I think that's it.....

could very well be, but that does not explain the car not starting? I know my old Benz had a vacuum controlled tranny and with my home-made (yeah yeah, whatever I was a kid) intake, it started messing with the tranny because there were two vent holes on the valve cover that were routed to the factory intake. Once it went back on, no more problems.

Is the maxima a stick or auto?

I didn't know there was a problem with not starting and being stick I don't know then, would have to get a look at it in person.....:confused

Have you driven it yet with the mystery line disconnected...???

thats definitely a vacuum line then. Did you try plugging it with something to see if it will at least start?

Plug it. It went to the factory airbox and is no longer used with the intake.

It actually looks like the fitting snapped off into the tube.

About the starting issue, you sure the Maf and intake temp sensor are plugged in?

Sorry couldnt read the goofy color in his signature...oops.

Ok the RS5F50 transaxle does in fact use a steel breather
tube out top of the housing, it mates to a rubber hose
that does in fact go to the air filter. It should be visible
right on top of the transaxle (thru the clutter). Add a
nipple or simply "T" it into another vented, non vacuum
source so it see's clean air.

Not your no-start issue obviously.

yeah...I called Injen and they said that line just sits there and serves as a breather valve...so dont bother fussing with it..

HOWEVER..the car still wont start. Randy looked at at with me, and we cant figure out why the hell it wont start. Everything is connected, sensors all appear to be 100%, reset the ECU, and still wont start.. Cranks but wont start.

The car was 100% no problems before the install.

Did any pins break in the Maf conections?

Are the conections dirty?

The maf is the only thing you messed with that would cause the car not to run. Thats the only place I would look.

Nissan has very funky conectors. I actually had to zip tie my Maf plug when I replaced it. Put pressure on the plug when somebody is cranking it.

MAF is pointed the right way. You can hear the IAC making some odd noises also when the key is turned. The only thing I can think of is the MAF issue mentioned above.

you didnt happen to drop the maf or anything like that during removal or reinstall.
otherwise check the connector pins

Test your maf with a meter.

Maf voltage (power side Black and white wire) should be at 12v. 5V on the signal wire. (white wire) and the all black is ground.

Also, any codes stored? Let me know. I can swing by with the scan tool I have.

Did you mess with the TPS at all?

Edit: I just saw your post about the imobilizer, was that it? is it running now?

does it have keyless entry? if so try and press both lock and unlock buttons at the same time and hold for a few sec. i did this with my cav and it fixed my no start security issue as well

yeah Ive got a few things to futz with before I call...The security light is definately staying on when the Key is in the on position though, Which according to the manual, is NOT supposed to happen if its disarmed.

Had the car towed to the dealership, the Security system is in complete lockdown. It wont let them reprogram the key either. It has their scanner completely locked out of the system.

Great...no car this weekend...cant wait to see the bill!

Dealership figured it out, the IMMU, which is the part of the ignition that reads the key, went bad. Cause? they don't. Most likely has nothing to do with the CAI install.

over $300 bucks to fix...the place where I bought it from is paying half of the total cost. I have NO car luck. :chair:
