I have a PS2 that has a "Disc Read Error" Message when a disc is inserted. I would like it fixed. Does anybody do this on the cheep?
i know theres a member who has his own store i'm sure he can hook you up>? cant remember his name

does it make a clicking or like a "whirrrrr" sound when you insert the disc? I had that problem and was able to easily fix it. if that's the case, drop me a pm and i'll let ya know what i did to fix it

ive gone threw a few take it a part and and one the white thing inside put a lil weight its what i did when i got disk read error and its worked sinceknock on wood

so you put a little weight on the white thing inside the Ps2?

Yeah. I had to read that 39183 times to make any sense out of that. Then I realized 1 would have been enough. I can't believe that post count... Are they all that bad?

this is what I did to fix my son's....
*take case apart
*with disc tray facing away from you, remove cover from disc tray
*slide disc tray out (open)
*on the left side you'll see a small white tab that slides on a threaded screwdrive
*that assembly is attached to two silver rails, remove screws closest to you and lift rails
*gently bend white tab down
*reassemble, plug, play
i had to do this 4-5 times before I got enough pressure on that tab. that was 3 weeks ago and havent had a problem since.

I had that issue go to target they have a CD lense cleaner...Worked and never had an issue sense...About 10 bucks I think

i tried some lense cleaner and it didn't work :(
gonna try that other idea though and see how it works!

i tried some lense cleaner and it didn't work :(
gonna try that other idea though and see how it works!
Ill check when I get home but oyu can have my old one if you want. I retired it when I got the Xbox. Not sure if the wife gave it away or not

I have one to that I would part with, wont just give it away but ill let it go cheap. Barely used.......and I do mean BARELY!

i have done this a few times....i just find it easier to replace the whole DVD drive.. my first one was over a year ago and is played 2-3 times per week and it is still going with no problems
