how much does a rebel xt go for? hard to learn how to take decent photos with it? I know its more involved then your typical point and shoot kodak :D I wouldn't mind getting one and start a lil ametur photography hobby

Depends where ya look.
I got my body/stock lens from bhphotovideo.com for a little over $600 shipped.
It's not that difficult to learn if you practice alot. Yea you could just leave it on full auto mode, but you won't get the best/most creative shots like that.

I guess the hardest thing to teach is having a good eye.

a good point and shoot camera is casio exilim EX-S77ord it takes unbelivable pics and it has all the shading Grey/color options. $300! not to bad.
