ive only heard of the newer spirit R/T.Those came with the intercooled 2.5L and from what ive read, are pretty zippy little cars.Id say ask Russ since hes a turbo dodge freak.

the R/Ts are intercooled, the older units i do believe are NOT. from my experience, the turbo dodges could be fun cars, but they are not the most reliable cars. just from what i know, a buddy had 5 of them.

they are good cars, pretty rare to!!! I have had 4 turbo g-bodies 84-86 daytonas and lasers and they take a beating pretty good and will ast long if the oil is changed. The cars also respond to upgrades as well. There was a guy at Great Lakes 2 years ago with a k car 2.5 turbo running 11.90's with it!!

a friend of mine had a red '91 R/T 5 spd. It was a fun car, and quick, but I think they had head gasket issues. If I remember right, it was a Chrysler block with a Lotus head. Other than the head gasket problems, I think they were reliable cars. http://www.allpar.com/model/spiritrt.html

Drops in like this on that car:

89 has all the good stuff, block, electronics ect. The turbo needs
to be upsized (i have one in stock) but a easy car to get into
the low 14's as it sits.

hahaha...the one i might be looking at has very low miles on it...so we'll see what kind of shape its in...it will be my dd so it doesnt have to be fast just reliable and fuel efficient.if its peppy all the better!!!

My daily drivers have seen 20psi boost on a daily basis, never
cracked a head on any of my turbo Dodges.....broke a piston
or 4....broke a block.....wasted several tranies....bent a crank
one time and few $17 headgaskets over the years but never
cracked a head. Matter of fact I just put two good heads out
by the street for the scrap guy, there still good to use!

I had a 91 Spirit R/T. Wish I would have kept it :(

The head and gasket issues were only on the later 91 and 92 Turbo III cars with the 16 valve Lotus head. What you are looking at is like Russ said a very good Turbo II year car. Those were pretty bulletproof and actually very good drivetrain wise. Pretty easy to mod and very reliable.

My buddy had a white 91 RT about 10 years ago. That was a really fun car to own back in those days. He kept it stock except for tinted windows. It was fun taking that out on Hwy.
