Ok now I see gas at 2.99. Now what the hell is the reason now for the hike?

The world better be ending!

Now I'm going to have to start selling stuff to be able to make it to work.

Don't worry the govt told us a week or 2 ago that they didn't expect $3 gas this summer. They said we'd cap out around $2.81. And you know they are always right. So your eyes must be deceiving you.

Ouch! I hope that it goes back down. Maybe instead of spending billions in Iraq, they could just give it back to us so we can afford to put gas in our cars to get to work. Pretty nice how they use taxpayer money on a war no one wants and then we can't even afford gas to get to work to give the government money to be in a war that is pointless!:fire

According to AAA increase in gas is due to refinery shutdowns due to repairs some of which are from Katrina. Also, americans consumed more gas in the month of April than last year.

Our soldiers dont even have the equiptment that they need as it is. Taking money from "the war" will only result in more deaths of american soldiers that are out there defending our country against ALL enemies foreign and domestic while you sit at home on your fat ass. Ive been in Iraq and in afganistan, do I 100% agree with us being over there, NO. But I do support our troops at all costs. Without a doubt! Lets see if this threat ends up in the garbage pit......

Pretty nice how EVERYONE wanted the war to start and now arent prepared for the long haul like it was intended to be. Yeah I am sure even YOU wanted the war initially. Somehow people think that by just pulling out and retreating, its going to help our oil prices.......Correct me if I am wrong but prices have gone up ALOT since dems took over didnt it? hmmm so did interest rates:confused

Anyways, gas is up to $3.01 a gall down here and surprisingly people arent bitching about it, although I am!!:rolf

so far i havent had to pay more than like 30 to fill up the srt but things can change. anyone know how much the race gas is now??? curious since norm gas is going up. also you guys could always put in the E85 gas lol

jbiscuit
04-13-2007, 07:37 AM
race gas is the same price it was 4 months ago....it doesn't go up and down like regular fuel does.

It sucks that its this high but like already said in this thread, it won't ever be $1.XX ever again. Those days are long gone. The oil companies keep bringing in record profits and the government isn't putting a stop to the price hikes so why would it change? If you were selling lemonade on the corner for 25 cents a glass but you COULD sell it for $1.50 a glass, what are you going to sell it at? ......................Exactly.

Prince Valiant
04-13-2007, 08:57 AM
I don't know...people, in this thread, are saying that gas won't ever be 1.XX/gal again, but I strongly disagree.

And it's not like this is without precedent either. There have been periods of long lasting price hikes in the past, yet the price always seems to come down.

Looking back, it's been said during those prolonged spikes that "well, it'll never be xx again!" or, "the days of cheap gas are long gone!"

And while there are some differences in today's market than those of yesteryear (IE, the competition for oil from india and china), the same thing that led to price downfalls then will eventually cause downfalls to arrive in the somewhat near future (2-3 years, maybe?)

Will gas be XX again? Almost certainly not...but I honestly have seen nothing out there that is concrete and suggest it'll never fall into the mid 1's even.

I just get used to it and not really pay attention to the gas prices any more...The way I see it, I will be paying the same amount to fill up the mustang in the summer as I will to fill a truck in winter

88Nightmare
04-13-2007, 09:05 AM
my truck should be about 80 bucks to fill up. I figured at some point gas would be around this price again, so it isn't a total shocker. I passed by speedway every day and saw that price slowly creeping up.

not trying to be a ****, but I noticed that most people complain when prices are going up, but a few months ago when gas got back down under 2.00 a gallon, no one said a peep. I guess its natural human nature to complain when things are going wrong, but not commend things that are going right.

Vey good point, however that is the way things go when the pocket book gets hurt....

I look at it like this:
3.xx to fill the mustang with premium in the summer= around 48 bucks
2.xx to fill up a truck this winter=50 bucks, maybe a little more.....not much different so there is no reason to *****

88Nightmare
04-13-2007, 09:19 AM
yeah true. hey im not complaining. it is what it is. there is ABSOLUTELY no way to get gas for considerably less then what they are charging, and I gotta get to work, so I have no choice but to pay. So I just deal with it. Not happily, but I deal with it :D

This is the part that gets me fired up. You are repairing your facility thereby reducing production. Well hell, we may lose some $$ better jack the rates!

If I owned 2 restaurants and closed one down for remodeling I can't raise the price of food at the other restaurant to cover for loss of revenue! Well - I could but then nobody would eat there. The issue is we HAVE to buy gas and are forced to pay whatever the hell price they want. The shit should be regulated like other utilities.
