I was at GLD last night and they told me I need a new helmet. Where's the best place to get a deal on one around here?
Thanks Larry

If I don't want to order one is there someplace around here where I can get one without getting robbed?

Isnt that stupid? Like the helmet is weaker now than it was last year. Theres nothing wrong with mine either except the little sticker now has the wrong numbers on it.

What is the number again. I need to check to see if mine is ok or if I need a new one.

I **Believe** it has to be Snell2000 or newer. I know my Snell95 is no good anymore according to the rules.

Found this:
NHRA Rules--
Helmet Expiration Dates
Effective Jan. 1, 2007, where a Snell- or SFI-rated helmet is required in competition, the Snell 95 and SFI 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, and 41.2 helmets will no longer be allowed. Look in the General Regulations section of the 2007 NHRA Rulebook under Helmet and Goggles for expiration dates for all Snell and SFI-tagged helmets.
IHRA Rules--
p. 118 Helmet: Change wording of the 3rd section: Change 13.99 (8.59 1/8) to 11.49 (7.49 1/8) must use a helmet meeting SN - 95 or newer. Entries going 11.50 (7.50 1/8) may use a SN - 90 or new helmet.
I'm interpreting this as IHRA tracks like WIR will be allowing the older helmets yet, where NHRA such as GLD will not.

Probably gonna get some $hit for this but hey it needs to be said.
"Yeah it totally sucks that they want us to be SAFER at the track." Last years rules where governed by a different body. Different body, different rules. NHRA rules may be more strict, but they are for your own good.

Also, most are designed for only 1 impact. Even if its been dropped on accident, its not going to protect you like it should if you actually need it too- especially a bike helmet.
