hey everyone,

missed ya all. its been a while since my last post.

anyways, got the car out on the road today to see how the engine would run after a MAF problem was fixed. I put it to the floor for a few seconds to get the rpm's up and then let off to see if there were any vibrations. to make it short, i wasn't paying attention to speed and moreso to the engine instead. i was flagged doing 85 in a 45... stupid mistake when all i wanted to do was to see if the car was running better. 438 dollars and 6 points. anyways i've had my license for two and a half years now and no tickets. do i fight it at court? and also does anyone have any advice for this seeing as this is the first time and i'm not sure how to approach it.

thanks,

cj:stare

Well if you're guilty personally I would be a man, go to court say I was guilty and pay the fine. Maybe a nice judge will see your an honest person with no other record and reduce or have you just pay (thats what happened to me). If you don't want to there was a thread on here recently with a lawyer's number.

Where was it if it was Milwaukee go to court and plead no contest. Somtimes if its your first offense you can get in a class and all your points get dropped and you just pay $75 for the class. No matter what don't just pay it either go to court or lawyer up.

its up here in port washington..

i guess it goes to a circuit court in may before i can do anything...

not sure but i have a buddy who's dad is the city attorney.. not sure if he covers my case or not but that would help.

as far as no contest.. what's the deal w/ that isn't it the same thing as guilty and wouldn't i just have to pay?

basically your saying your guilty without actually saying your guilty lol. Sometimes you just have to pay and sometimes they just take the points down some. It all depends on the judge really. Id ask your buddy's dad what you should do.

I would say the primary reason to go for a reduction is to keep your insurance rates from going out of site for the next five years. Would you rather pay $500 to a lawyer once or $500 more per year to a insurance company? You do the math.:thumbsup

i am telling you guys if you dont use my lawyer your nuts. if you go to court in port by yourself your gonna be ****ed. any of you that dont believe me i still have the ticket (s) i have kept all of them over the years. he got a wreckless driving tiket dropped for me last year and two six pointers dropped to defective equiptment. i have no ties or affiliation nor do i get any money for advert. i am trying to let you guys in on a good thing. mentioning my name with him may help lower your bill not sure. i never asked joe, dave or anyone else on here that has used him.

Go to court, pay the fine, DA will offer you a drop from 6 to 3 points, goto traffic school and get it wiped out. Live and learn.......

thats a great plan ^^^ but you can only do drivers school once every 5 years. i would rather save that for the time you need to save your license....not just to keep the ins. off your back. get the lawyer save the drivers school for when your really ****ed

haha im tunning my car in about 30 min.. i hope freeway doesn't have cops everywhere..... ha i may be in this same situation..

usually they will cut the points in half and keep the same fine. if you have multiple offenses then get a lawyer

Depends on the Judge I guess. I go alone and am satisfied with the results. Never once had points. Was just hoinest with the judge.

What does being a man have to do with paying through the nose for a ticket for years to come? I shouldnt have to pay an enormous amount of money every year to the insurance company for a moment of indiscretion. I get a lawyer plain and simple, I would rather pay a small amount up front to play with the system than to get phucked by them and pay for it years to come. I dont take knives to gun fights.
