Excript from article:

"Stingley was a 26-year-old New England Patriots receiver when a tackle by Oakland safety Jack Tatum paralyzed him in an exhibition game against the Raiders on Aug. 12, 1978. Stingley spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair and died Thursday morning at age 55 after he was found unconscious by his wife, Martine, in his Chicago condominium."

I had the pleasure to meet him & his family when I worked for Abt Electronics in Chicago when we did A/V work at his condo. His son was playing college ball at the time. I can honestly say that I have been affected by what he told my coworkers and myself about his life after his injury & career. After our install was complete, he invited us to stay so he could have 'a word' with us. A few hours later when we left I had a different outlook on life with the lesson learned from his story of overcoming.
Thanks Darryl & godspeed
