Yea Brandon,

Up until these full quarters showed up the only thing that was available were the full outer skins that went from the top body line to the door jamb and to the back line where the quarter ended. It had the wheel opening and lower joints though. They fit the 68 through 70 and you had to make the opening for the side marker your self depending on the year.

It was a major pain in the arse to fit it up and even worse to butt weld it to the existing metal. There was some NOS quarters for a '69 on E-Bay about a year or so ago and they sold for about $6.500.00 each if I remember correctly.

The 2nd generation Chargers are really hard to find parts for and no one makes all the body panels for them so the parts that are out there are insane for cost. It looks like they plan to make door skins and front fenders soon too.
Those aren't available anywhere either unless you want flimsy fiberglass ones.

The Mustang, Firebird, and Cameros from that era have reproduction parts available for every single part you can imagine where you can litterally build one from a catalog. The old Mopars don't. I learned all this the hard way and If I had to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't build another Charger next time. I did most of the work myself and I still ended up investing almost 28K and still have the interior to do. (crazy)

This is what it looked like when I got it... (Pic was taken after all the mech. work was done)

Not much on rust but the dents were everywhere. I wanted to make it as bondo free as possible and reached that goal with the exception of the roof seam and the front of the quarter skin by the rocker panel. Floors and trunk were completely rust free.

So what's the story with the Superbird spoiler? :)

It's a Daytona Wing. Only '69 Chargers had the option when they were converted from 500's to Daytona Chargers. The wing assembly between the Super Bird and Daytona are very different from each other but did serve the same purpose. NASCAR Stopped allowing them because the conversions gave the cars "An Unfair Advantage."

I always liked the look of the wing but didn't care much for the nose cone. I wanted to build something different when I built the '68, and used some of my favorite things from the Mopars from that era. So, I added the sixpack scoop, fender scoops and the wing. I'm sure it doesn't appeal to everyone but I didn't build it for them.

Not everyone is interested in the old B-Body cars but here is a link to the Winged Warriors site... http://www.wwnboa.org/ They have some pretty interesting info, stories, and videos in there on the Birds and Daytonas....

I didn't take it that way at all... Just thought I'd share more stuff (links) for anyone interested in the old B-bodys and the Bird & Daytona history. Lot's of that is before allot of members time. Hell I was only like 7 or 8 years old when those cars were pounding the tracks and streets...
