View Full Version : simple science project help- hooking up batteries in sequence??

hey guys i need a little help here. a guy that i work with has a daugter that has a science project. she must use 3 6 volt lantern batteries to get a light bulb to light. we tried hooking up and i can't get the thing to work. here is what i thought the answer was but i was wrong:confused :confused :confused

the above from pickard is correct for hooking them in Series, which will amplify the voltage. You basically tried hooking them up in parallel the first go around in a very round about way, which the voltage would stay the same, but the amperage potential or reserve amps would increase.
