Ok, I have almost no experience with turbo cars, and I'm just curious...

Do all T3/T4 turbos have the same Flange?
What's the difference between certian turbos?
What's it mean when it says it's a Garret turbo?
Are there any like... Idiots guides to turbos or something that's good information?? :durr

I'm turbo illiterate, so don't make too much fun of me... :rolf

buy from them all the time!

and as far as a "t3/t4" turbo.... the exhaust flange would be the same... its a "t3" flange. a "t3/t4" turbo is a hybrid turbo. exhaust housing is a "t3" and the compresor housing is a "t4". there are many many many different variations of "t3/t4" turbos as far as the trim and internal specs.

a Garret turbo is made by Garret. its a company!

did i answer what you were asking?!?!
anymore questions???

The book 'Maximum Boost' by Corky Bell is pretty much the most respected book ever written about turbo's.

Although there are several style flanges (Chrysler,Saab,IHI ect) the
single most common is the "square flange" also commonly called a
Ford Bolt pattern (old 2.3 Ford turbos). If you order a turbo with no
other requests it will have the "standard" or "square flange. The
flange being the hot side were it bolts to the manifold.

When it comes right down to it Garret started the whole domestic
comercial supply, Turbonetics used there castings to sell to the
retail market while Garret kept comercial production (OE turbos for
cars and trucks). Recently Garret realized they were loosing out
on the aftermarket millions and kicked Turbonetics in the balls and
said you cant copy our stuff identicaly.Recently many other makes
are available, all based off the exact same garret platform. You get
what you pay for, dont let any manufature say there stuff is the best
for your car, every motor/setup is differnt even from identicle looking
setups.

Corky Bells book is available at Barnes and Noble, dated but still
worth reading. A more comprehensive book covering todays setups
would be Mark Warners "Street Turbocharging". Stop by the house
any night and I can show you the inner workings, its easier to get
an idea with the parts in your hand.

We just got done putting together the Zetec (2.0L) turbo package and the 2.0/2.3L Duratec is next.

Any idea how well the automatic transmissions hold up to that kind of abuse??

No more than 6-8 psi and it will be fine but a couple Lentech parts are recommended if you decide to get frisky with it. That would make decent power over stock I would really suggest upgrading the torque converter at a minimum.

Point out that the #2 most common exhaust flange for the T3/T4 Hybrid is the Mother of the T3/T4 hybrid - They GN 3 bolt round flange. You won't find more variations on a single turbo then that damn thing.
