Why destroy a car that was involved in a crime? It's not like it a gun.

Sell it and put the cash in the donut fund at least. Tax money at work....

I agree the department should continue to gut the cars and sell the parts. Like the Wheels on the car or pannels to Auto body repair shops.

Obvious scare tactic. I'd like to see the specifics on the criminal cases for those cars. Stolen parts? Multiple offenses?

I just don't see how confiscating and crushing a car worth tens of thousands of dollars is a fitting punishment for streetracing. Not that those honda's were worth much, but does the court make a judgement call if your car is worth x amount or more they wont crush it? Maybe they tell the kids to pay $5000 fine or crush the car?

Thats just plain ******* stupid, auction the dam stuff off and make $$$$$$ give that money to the needy or to somthing of importance.

Hell every police auction is %99 stolen shit.

I have first hand knowledge of there laws. I had one of my cars inpounded for 30 days and was arrested for "speed contest" (racing on the street). The car was inpounded as I said and it cost me $800 to get it out, then i had to go to court where the DA dropped it to a 10 over speeding ticket because it was my first violation. You only get one warning, second violation, your car is GONE, You go to JAIL, and its a minimum $1500 fine.

yeah no kidding. They could of put the cars on e-bay and I bet most of the cars would be sold out of state and the theifs and cops would never see those cars again. The police could do what ever with the money and some poor sap can have a beater with a heater.

first of all, I dont think the cars that were just crushed were worth tens of thousands of dollars. we arent talkin about the honda civic hatch in the classifieds here, come on now...

So would they do the same to a modified Vette or even Porsche for example if they are busted street racing too? Or are they only doing this to Imports & low dollar cars to curb them from racing?
Can Nan loose his car to the crusher too?

Hahaha funny shit. Best thing I saw all day! But yet they should of auction them off to people who cant afford pricy vehicles or ones who need a way of getting around and are on a tight budget.

they said that they tried that, but the cars just ended up in the hands of those who stole the engines again, so now they are crushing them
