View Full Version : Holy shitballs, anybody else catch that fireball?

About 7pm, half way between Milwaukee and Madison a whiteish to greenish fireball came STRAIGHT down to the east. Sky was pretty well lit yet so this thing was bright. You could see it shedding pieces on the way. Went down straight into the horizon, I almost waited to see a damn ka-boom on the ground.

I have seen these normally streak from side to side, but never straight down. Pretty damned wild. I am no judge on distance of these things but I would think that whatever it was made it and went into the lake.

I saw something real similar up here a few years ago, I was way out in the country and saw the same thing dead ahead of me. The local news claimed it to be the International Space Station, but that was a crock, it had a green color to it and went screaming across the sky. It was really cool looking.

I have dropped some that felt like that.

The looks on people's faces was funny. There was a family in a truck next to me and the dad and I both looked over at each other at the same time and mouthed "Wow".

Seriously though, if you weren't looking over to the east for those few seconds you missed the whole thing. I want to say you could see it come through the cloud layer (which was REALLY high) but I don't know for sure.
