The Acer seems to have much better specs?

Am I reading it correctly, the Acer has double the memory, double the capacity for extra memory, a better processor, and alot more video memory for only $150 more?

Scratch that, the Compaq has a little faster ghz processor, but the Acer has the "better", "higher-line" processor?

compaq has a higher availability for parts you can go almost anywhere to buy stuff for an hp/ compaq you could always add on to a compaq theres alot more things out there in my opinion

i have 2 acers right now, love them both and neither has given me any troubles. most of my friends have acers as well. my last two laptops were hp's (well one was hp and one was compaq) and they were shit piles, the power plug port got all f*cked up and wouldnt stay connected and the screen went out on the compaq (1 month out of manufacturer warranty).

Compaq- because each part has it's spare part #on each & every part. I like this because as being an ex-pc tech it makes part finding parts if needed as easy as it gets.

I prefer HP/Compaq over Acer, but these two laptops are not equal. The Acer has far better specs. It has more RAM and although the processor has a lower GHz rating, it is actually a faster processor. The Pentium Dual Core has two processing cores, kind of like having two CPUs, it does multiple processes faster. The Celeron is a budget processor that is adequate, but only has one core and typically has less cache and a slower bus speed. In short, the Acer is far better spec'd. I prefer HP/Compaq products to Acer, but in all fairness, Acer has been producing much better products now than they did 5 years ago.

I have never had good luck with HP or Compaq products, so since they merged, its like double the shit.

I would grab the Acer.
