oh well. live and learn. good thing its under warranty. we just got it back from the shop a week ago, needed a new trans  All the repairs its needed werent a manufacturers defect, just the way we ride it. Although the trans (on my brothers quad) was caused by his friend who tried to shift it into high gear while goin full bore in low :chair:

And a picture of my slow shitpile of trash which makes me question my presence on BCM:

Its got natural black OEM Z71 fender flares on it now

Were you going off jumps or what?

88Nightmare

nope. just runnin laps on that circle track you see pictured. I think it put too much stress on the left side, because as we were turning left, you could see the left tire tipping inwards at the top and the bottom was kinda dragging along as we were powersliding. guess it put too much stress on his quad. his is a 2003 with bout 3,300 miles on it. as far as we can tell, there is no other damage other then the balljoint/a-arm. but I tell ya, it was hilarious when it happened. I was laughing for a good 10 minutes straight

how fast was he going when the tire broke/fell off??

88Nightmare
03-09-2007, 03:24 PM
tire didnt break. nore did it fall off. its still firmly attatched to the hub at proper torque. wheels dont fall off when ball joints break, they just go into funky angles (see above pics)

anyway, he was going at least 25mph

You guys should be part of the r&d testing. You surely test the equipment! :thumbsup

One question, you like to gamble? No helmets. :goof

I have a motocross helmet, I just left it at home. Good place for it eh? :D

And I tell ya, we really do put those quads through the paces. Given the things that have happened to my brothers used quad since he got it:
water neck on the top of the radiator warped (recall, not our fault)
drive belt broke (normal wear and tear)
trans took a crap (because of my brothers friend attempting to shift from low range to high range while going 20mph)
brake lines burst (mud and snow froze on the 4wheeler, which was our fault from not cleaning it properly)
and now, this ball joint (probably our fault, but it is used with 3300miles on it, im not sure what the life expectancy of those ball joints are) I think we are doin pretty damn good. We blaze across farm fields at over 50mph, we jump it, we push cars around, we run trees over (smaller ones obviously), we intentionally drive the quads through terrain so bad the only way out is with the winch, id say its holdin together pretty good. My quad just broke 400 miles the other day and it has only 1 problem. Brake fluid got low somehow. It isnt spongy at all, so fluid went somewhere. Ill just add some more, no biggie. my atv is an 06 pullyourass sportsman 700 efi. I love it.

Do I recognize that track?
Is that the one where I stuck my entire leg through the fender of my Pullyourass on some convoluted double-jump?

Sold it for what I paid for it in late Jan.
Need money to put a turbine from an Apache helicopter in this Citroen 2CV that my great aunt left me.

My uncle was in the copter when it was shot down, and he survived 2 months living in the inlet tube until help arrived.
The Citroen used to bring dried figs to my second-cousin's internment camp during the war.
Talk about sentimental value...

Man this post makes me want to get my atv out and do some riding. To bad the neighbors are pricks and call the cops on me everytime. Any local places to ride?

88Nightmare

I kept offering a place to ride for people all summer, only one to take me up on it was BGCntry. PM me if you want to go, I may go down there tomorrow.

yeah thank god for that polaris warrenty. i got the 3 year on my predator and it paid itself off when the rear axle bearings crapped. my fault though, we rode though lots of water and mud and i didnt grease it enough
