Overturned semi closes NB 43 overnight
A semitrailer truck carrying 77,000 pounds of animal parts rolled over on I-43 in Manitowoc County when its driver swerved to avoid an animal in the road early this morning, sheriff's officials said.
The driver suffered minor injuries, according to Manitowoc County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Mack.
The accident occurred about 2 a.m. on I-43 northbound, just north of Highway K. County highway workers remain on the scene this morning to clean up the animal parts dumped from the driver's load during the accident.
The road is expected to be closed for at least another hour, according to Mack.
Traffic is being routed off at Highway K, exit 160, and being routed back on at exit 164 on Highway 147 in Maribel, Mack said.
