he can't just sell tags like that to someone...can he...i didn't think so....the tags belong to a different car....so you buy them from him and get caught with them on another car...unregistered car ...right....or am i off base here

not legal as far as I can tell. The state uses this also to claim unpaid parking tickets etc...that's why if you have outstanding tickets you can't get stickers until you pay up.

In WI, the plate stays with the owner. In many other states such as MN, the plate stays with the car.

That's what I thought and I just confirmed it, does someone want to give this person the good news...?

This is great!!! >>> From the sounds of it the person selling the plates is a laywer, and she appears to have the IQ of a paper bag. Read the two posts following up on the original post.....

Isn't it great when the users can flag bad or illegal add's?

Sooner or later she will get frustrated and give it up

In Milwaukee, there are a select few who will cut off the corner of the license plate with the sticker so that they can either put it on their own car or sell them.

This happened at the school where my mom works. All of the cars without that little plastic thing around the plate had the corner of the plate cut off. What really sucks is that the security guard knew it was going on, but it was outside of his area to protect, so he let it happen.

You can't exactly sell plates, but plates can change names...

Example: The plates on the fusion were Kristie's only and now only have my name on 'em... She had her name on the Grand Am, we added mine, and traded it on the fusion where they became my plates...
