I need a place that can meet factory spec.

Check out the sylvania website. You can find out what hid bulb you need and pick a set up on ebay or any parts store should have em.

theres alot of places, i got my HIDs from Xenon King, and they stocked OEM style retrofits w/ Philips bulbs (likely what you have) as well as much cheaper (but just as good) McCulloch bulbs.

Man if thats what it costs to to replace a bulb I hate to think how much it would be to have your tranny overhauled. Geeze some imports are just way to frickin expensive to fix.

Its a fuggin lightbulb for cryin outloud!!! A BULB!!!!!! Not a bar of gold.

yes it is Just a bulb but that bulb is totally worth it. Ever driven a car with HID's? I will NEVER have a car without them again.

As far as I'm concerned, it should be a law for every new car to have them. This is from a safety standpoint. They light the road like it's daylight. During rain and snow, you have zero problems with seeing the lines in the road like you do with a halogen.

Well worth the money.

Agreed, and like anything else it pretty much comes down to you get what you pay for....

There is no way in fuk I would spend 200+ on just a fuggin bulb. I'm use to what I have so it makes no difference to me. Now if I ever had them Im sure i would sing a different tune. But that is just insane.

What do you have? 8000K?

8k, eeew. ricery blue, that shade is.

I have 5k, which visually is inperceptable to the stock 4.3k that your car has. at least that I've found.

I was considering 6000k

Maybe 5000k

I had 6000 in the Jetta and liked it, although with 4300k now in the acura, I'd rather go 5000k.

8000k is the devil, and get's you pulled over and handcuffed for "impersonation of a police officer" in West Allis

Here's a pic of 6000k with projectors which may have tinged them a bit bluer.

Tom has 6k in his Monte and I think it looks fantastic. that being said, I still like my 5k, but would consider switching to 6k just to see how it looks.

as is when you look at them, they have a blueish cast. but on the road it's all white. part of the projectors.

Since we are already off topic...

I have 6000K's in my Camaro and like you said will never drive a car without them again. They are just amazing.
Oh and my 6000K's are the exact same color as my brother's stock HID's in his S2000.

Thats where I bought my HID's for my subaru legacy from. I like them and for $200 shipped I couldn't complain. Plus they were shipped in 4 days.

I have since changed to 4300K, the 6000K were a little too blue for my liking.

I had the 6000k kit on my 06' civic and it was a lil bit too blue for my liking as well. Now I bought the 4300k and it looks 100% stock and they are actually brighter than the 6000k I had on the civic.

Actually it is brighter, physically. A 4300k bulb typically has 3300-3500 lumens vs a 6000k bulb at 3000k lumens. Then you have people who are mistaken thinking that the higher the temperature the brighter, and they buy a 9000k kit which only puts down 2000 lumens and they cannot see a damn thing in the rain.

Not to argue, I'm just truely addicted to HID lighting and would never go without it again.

for anyone looking for a awesome deal on a HID retrofit, theres this guy thats selling them for like $90+30 shipping on e-bay and he's 100% legit. A ton of people on the GTO forums have been buying them and snatching them up, and everyone thats got them has been raving on how awesome they are. At any price point, they are equal to the $300+ retrofits we've been buying.

some are cheaper, but these are legit via the testing of ls1gto.com members.

I got them for the monte simply because of the better visibilty being i live in the sticks with lots of wild life. And the 4300K are just awesome for brightness, especially with the stock halogen high beams on (all 4 at once) its like im using two deer shining lights bwahahahah

Poncho

so was it a big difference on your part to go from 6k to 4.3k, Tom?? That e-bay deal kinda wants me to try those in the highbeams.

From my switch between the Jetta with 6000k to the CLS with 4300k, I'd never go back to 6000k again.

When it's dry, there was little difference between the two. However when it's wet outside, I can see far more with the 4300k then I could with the 6000k.

That's my experience anyway.

If I have to replace a bulb in the CLS at any point, I would probably get 5000k as well.

I have the HID kit from my Jetta sitting my in my garage. I'm going to try to figure out a way to retro them into my "road lamps" with a 3000k bulb.

Yellow HID fog lights in any kind of bad weather = badass

I want to eventually have all my lights HID powered. Highs, lows, and fogs. I like the yellow hid fog too.

Eventually I am going to do a TL Retrofit in my car (Projectors, Bulbs, Ballasts). I think with the lens, the 4300K that comes with the TL's are blue enough. I would rather get a lens that would distort the color a bit and keep the 4300K's just go get the max output of light. Some guy I was reading about bought a set of 12000K's. I saw the pics and man I feel sorry for them.

www.hidplanet.com has a lot of good information about HID's and also products for sale as well.

though I know yellow would be badass for the fogs, I just can't let myself do that do my car, it would look funny. What I wanna do though, is not get those cheaper e-bay deals in 4300/5000k for the fogs, then those 3200yellow's for the highbeams, I bet they'd help distance vision like none other.

You really think it would look funny? Think about the gt-500, that had yellow fogs in a few models where they didnt use the blue tinted, and I don't think it's a "ricer" thing when it's done with style/function.

When I think yellow HID I think Le Mans or lexus, not trashy. Not to say you're making a wrong decision by having all HID lights at all.

I've been thinking about sticking my extra set in my highs as well but I'm not sure how long they'd last (being that constant on/off action shortens the life span of the ballast), considering I drive in the boonies so often.

Thank God for HID.
