If I go from a .041 to .053 gasket thickness how much will it lower my compression? And I got the fel pro MLS do I need to prep them any certain way?

thats a big jump in thickness.
i hope you have the .041 s

Actually it will only lower it .3-.4 wich is ok with me should put me around 10.5:1 a little better with pump gas....

Well i figured out the dome size on the ppiston it is 10.4cc wich will give me a static compression ratio of about 12:1 might run some race gas to see if I can pick up some power when I get it back together...

what is your actual setup again?

i didnt remember seeing a dome in the pics.
still, its important to have a tight quench.tight quench will help allow higher compression without deto.

I found out the part # and they have a 10.4 cc dome I changed my order to the .041 mls gasket should give me a compression ratio of 11:1. also the edelbrock heads have a really good swirl, should put down some good power.

I had been figureing the comp with a 3.5 stroke instead of 3.0

block decked? how far outta the hole are the pistons? alot more at stake then JUST your static compression number.

no the block isn't decked. and the pistons have been notched to clear the spark plugs. the gaskets that were in before were .039 compressed......

so the pistons likely sit about .015 in the hole?
good decision to stay with the thinner gasket.

actually it is .016 to be exact but yeah I think the thinner will work better keep the compression up a little... still run on 93oct we have down here.
