I know there are some good photographers on here so i didn't know if you had any hints to give to other people.

I found this thread via an Audi Forum
Picture taking tips (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=417604)

This thread i thought was very helpful, i just didn't know if anyone else had anything else to add.

that seems like a great writeup......

Only thing I can add is practice practice practice. Take multiple pics and get yourself some decent editing software like photoshop.

Also, the rule of thirds is a great point. It allows for a rather bland picture to be quite stunning.

TL = mad sexy

I enjoy odd angle close ups too, such as this:

Great info in that site, along with some great shots.

And don't mind my water mark pig, just something I have been playing around with. Its too JDM for me

The only thing I would add is that if you are shooting at a slower shutter speed use a tripod.

Thanks^^

I'm ready for a new camera. Been using a 3mp Olympus for the last 4 years. Took the Chevelle pics with it. I'm not sure if i want to go for the Rebel. Maybe the Canon S3 would work for my needs, 6mp and 12x optical with image stabalization.

My "older" Kodak i had is a 3.1MP my new one is 5MP a nice step up, but i'd really like to try my hand at a more "professional" camera.

I've used my mom's S2-IS alot, I absolutely <3 the 12x optical, it's amazing.
Zoom comparison:

BCM Culver's shots with the S2:

The S3-IS has been out for a while, and is now on clearance at walmart for like $350 I think it was.

I think it's probably the best non-SLR camera out there.

Question for you guys... Ive got a Canon A520 Powershot and when i try to do the different aperture shots i NEVER get the blurry background? I think i got it once since i owned the camera.

I even set it to manual mode and cranked the aperture up to 8.0 and still nothing! WTF am i doing wrong? Am i supposed to play with the zoom from that point with the aperture cranked? I can go up to 14x...

You are going in the wrong direction with the apeture. You want 2.8 or however open you can go. It may be 4 or 5.6 again depending upon the camera and the lens. Just remember that opening up the apeture you will be letting more light hit the sensor or film therfore you have to shoot a faster shutter speed or set the ISO to a lower number 100, 50 etc.

OK i think im starting to get the hang of this... It all depends how close you can get to the object and still get it all the way in the frame and i just used the portrait setting which controls the aperture and shut off AiAF setting so i control the focal point.

And here is what i ended with... Dont mind the shitty lighting, i was just playing around.
