so im cruisin down the freeway yesterday on my way home, stuffin my face with some krispy kreme donuts while listening to some Styles P rap crap that my girlfriend shoved into the 6 disc changer in my truck, so I was just listening to it, enjoying the bass and clarity on the Bose system in the truck (factory biatches). Who hasn't seen this scenario played out right? Anyway, I am like, 2 miles away from my exit in the left lane, so im like shit I better drop the hammer so I can move over and exit. Well, I got to around 75 and I am just about to move over when I look up and a little to the left and what do I see? Reflective crap on a car parked in the left shoulder. And I was like fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck thats a cop. I look at my radar detector..... nothin. I'm like maybe he isn't runnin radar. Before I even pass him, he turns on his headlights and takes it out of park ready to roll. Now im pissed, for two reasons. One, I was about to get pulled over, and two, I just dropped my krispy kreme. So I knew what was going to happen, so I just started movin over. He pulls me over on the offramp. I did what I was taught by my parents when I started drivin. Wait till he opens the door to come talk to you, and put it to the floor and run. :rolf But seriously, I had my license out in my left hand while having it on the steering wheel, and my other hand, on the wheel, was holding the keys to the car. They told me it gives the cop some comfort knowing where your hands are, and seeing your keys there knowing you arent gonna pull nothin and the license ready to go so you arent digging for it, idk, but I was cooperating. He said do ya know why I pulled ya over? I could have used the line I use any other day and said "no but I bet you're gonna tell me" but instead I thought, if I am honest and not a smartass, maybe he will be lenient. I said I was speeding , probably doing about 75. He said 77. I handed him my license, he asked me a few questions, like my phone number, where I was coming from, where I was heading to, and who's truck I was driving as if he didn't know when he ran the plates :durr He comes back like 5 or 6 minutes later (doesnt that moment always feel like an eternity waiting for him to come back with your shit?) and hands me a speeding ticket and my license. He ticketed me for doing 77 in a 55. I didn't argue with him, never once used a "bad tone" in my voice, and was entirely honest with him. Isn't that always helpful and sometimes the cops will be lenient on the ticket? Wonder if I could get this reduced in court. Not that I am trying to get out of what I did wrong, just thought maybe I could get the $215 price tag lowered....

I got nailed by the sheriffs in 94 in my black mustang 78 in a 55.. I took it to court and they were going to drop it from 6 points to four points, I declined that offer.. I met with the DA and the DA didn't do anything so I got nailed with the fine and 6 points. Get a lawyer my buddy did this for 20mph over he paid the lawyer $150 and his ticket and he got all of his points back from Milwaukee County.

FYI, West Allis drag racing tickets can NOT be reduced. He just let me know that the city is not budging on those tickets so BE CAREFUL!! For any other ticket in Milwaukee county, he will charge a flat rate of $125 and can get them reduced if not dropped.

Every ticket I've gone in for I've got dropped to a no point citation and kept the fine. Last time I got one by a Milwaukee Sheriff the judge offered all of us the plea of failure to obey a sign. Kept the fine dropped the points.

I see no reason to pay the fine plus pay a lawyer.

First thing you did wrong was admitt guilt. when a cop walks up to your window before he gets a chance to say anything ask him why you are being pulled over.

If you do a search on the net there is a ex cop that tells you how to deal with a cop when you get pulled over or when they come to your house.

Never ever admitt guilt.

If you are asked to get out of the car, pull the keys from the ignition, put them in your pocket and lock the doors when you get out. Because if you leave the door open they can enter the car. same thing at the house.
if you are having a paety or something, make sure you are the only person to answer the door. when you do answer step outside and lock the door behind you. don't stand in the doorway and talk to them. Because if they see or smell something they can enter. with the door closed and locked they can't.

I will try to find a link for you guys it has a ot of good advice.

Shitty man, I had the same thing happen trying to merge from the left lane that ends in waukesha on 94, right by Barker road eastbound. The cop didn't care that I was being tailgated and there were 4 harleyturds next to me.

Mine was dropped to 4 points but the same fine

Good luck, I'd definately contact that lawyer.

This is very true. A week ago some kids had a party and cops came at 3 am and the guy living there talked to them through the screen door and he ashed his cigarette every 10 seconds so the cops waited for him to do it again then they grabbed his arm and entered the house, upon which the kid's german shepherd attacked and bit one of the cops which lead to more cops coming to the house and everyone at the house getting underage drinking tickets and the two guys who lived there were arrested.

id suggest either an escort or valentine detector. They work great.I had an escort detector and it saved me many times. They have the best range also and they offer to pay your ticket to a certian extent if you do get pulled over.Id call basil too,he got my 24pts dropped to 3.i was on probationary which explains the high points and i got my liscence back.He fought 4 tickets and paid to reopen 2 cases.I paid $400 all said and done. Most tickets stayed the same amount for the fine but all but one dropped to zero points.Good luck.

I just had a flashback reading your thread because the SAME thing happened to me, right down to every detail (it's was scary  ). I thought the same thing too, be honest and they'll cut you a break. Well I tell you what, I will NEVER be honest about why I got pulled over again. It's sad (and I'm a really honest guy) but what the hell do you expect when you're honest and they stick it in your a**. Not to mention I had a relatively good reason for speeding up to the speed that I got caught at, which was only for a very short time...... :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I will tell you one thing, a good friend of mine is a sheriff and after the incident where the guy was mowed over by Miller Park they are cutting even less slack on speeding. As if they aren’t already the worst for cutting slack in the first place, especially on speeding. It's like a right to print $$$, THAT'S WHY THEY'LL DROP THE POINTS AND RAISE THE FINE AMOUNT..... :loser :loser :loser

If he was in the left lane, you probably got hit with laser or what is known in LEO jargon as LIDAR. Go here (http://www.speedlabs.com/) and do some reading. Find a product called "Blinder" and you will see the solution to those pesky laser units that are becoming more prevalent in traffic law enforcement every day. Also might want to get a better detector while you're at it. I use a Valentine1 and would never go back to anything else. Yes it's pricey, but IMO it's the best there is. Used in conjunction with the other product I mentioned and a little discretionary drivng especially at night and can't see what's up ahead and you will stay ticket free for a LONG time...:thumbsup

Yes, and it's worth every nickel. Mine has probably paid for itself at LEAST 5 times over, more so if you calculate lawyer fees, higher insurance premiums, etc... I know a coupe of well-heeled individuals that own more than one so they don't have to keep moving it from vehicle to vehicle. I'm considering doing the same so I can hard wire my old one into my truck.

Yeah, but the Escorts don't have the directional arrows and they don't have the bogey counter. These features may seem like gimmicks, but once you get used to them, you'll never want anything else. If you want to go the ebay route, I'm sure you could find a V1 on there, as well.

I've owned both and used them side-by-side to determine which one to keep. The sensitivity is about the same, but the arrow and bogey count feature won the day. The V1 falses a little more, but I would still say that based on it's case construction, (Magnesium instead of plastic) features, overall reputation and my own personal use for the last 6 years, it's definitely the better unit.

One more ? for ya >>> When you say it falses more than the Escort RD, how much more...? (And what model Escort did you have)

I ask because I currently have an Escort Passport 8500 (about 3 or 4 models old) and it hardly ever gives a false alarm, and is quite accurate I feel. I also had a really cheap one once and I swear it went off when you'd sneeze, that one ended up in the oil filter crusher.....

When I had the v1 3 part unit in my car I never had a problem with false alarms. The only one that I know of as being close to the v1 is bell (according to car and driver).

That new lidar is being used more and more, so defanatly get one that has been made in the last year or so if going used.

I had the Passport 8500. That was back in 2000 so it's hard to give you an accurate description of the differences in falsing. They would both go nuts around Walgreens and other strong sources of K Band. On KA Band there is very little falsing.

A As far as radar detectors go, Ive had the V1 and the Escort 8500, the escort is BETTER!!!

Really? In what way? Without the arrows, how do you know if the threat is in front of you or behind you? Have you ever come upon a cop using another strong source of radar as a shield? Without a source counter and knowing the direction(s) of perhaps multiple threats, how would you know? I like to speed and the more information I have about the traffic environment around me, the better I can navigate it without consequences. The V1 gives more information than the Passport does, period.
