Not surprised that the glh won 2.2 turbo....the shelby glhs omnis had the intercoooler and was the 2nd fastest from 0-60 in 1986 (the grand nat was the fastest by a tenth) I miss mine actually...

Who cares dude! Its a nice sleeper, I remember back in the day there was a black Omni that was all over Hwy running people left and right. My buddy ran him with his 81 TA that ran a best of 14 flat and he got fuking destroyed by the Omni. It was funny as hell when it happened.

I got mine from a guy named joe for what it would cost to have the engine rebiult (he blew the head gasket for the third time on it) back in 97 (he gave me the car and I paid him to rebuild it, $1500) The guy that I am thinking of was selling an 87 glhs, has a shelby lancer, csx-t and a shelby dakota....I dont know if it is the same guy or not. There is another one, that is not in as good of condition body wise, and I think it is the one you are thinking of flick. at last count there were 3 of the allotted 15 that Wisconsin got in the milwaukee area....Mine was sold to a guy in minnesota, however i would kill to get that car (or a different one, like an 87 glhs, the charger body) again.

the one i am talking about i believe has a FMIC or a Radiator sticking through the hood of the car. i've always "heard" it was the guy who was building the rX7

I am going to have to go there just to see......biggest problem on those turbo chryslers was the paint/body.....the engines would go for ever, but the paint sucked ass and would cause the body to rust.

Its possible on the 2dr thing, its been years since i seen it. I remember it had the smoother faced rims with the holes around the outside diameter and the fronts had slicks aired down to like 10 psi lol

I remeber the first time i seen turbo chryslers was in the movie "The Wraith"
Where they had a white turbo 85' daytona in the beginning and a red/black 86 T-Daytona, and later in the movie at the shop a white 87-88?? w/ hide away headlights? but the movie was made in 86? lol and not to mention the turbo interceptor PPG car and all the 600 and caravelle cop cars that were turbos lol:rolf

This wasn't in 97, it was about 95'? You have the car that was crushed confused with gregs 88 Mustang GT. Greg got smoked up Layton by that omni. I was with Mike in his 80 Firebird, the Omni was with us thru the intersection and we annialiated it, he ended up letting off saying the clutch fried. Funny, we saw him the same night racing an old (new then) Lightning on Hway, hahahahahahaa.

Yeah Jeff Chojnacki has the blue 4-door k-car LeBaron. I'm good friends with him. It's sitting in his garage right now and gets driven during the summer months. Several years ago he did a bunch of upgrades and got into tuning the computer(i.e. hacking the assembly code) he's a programming whiz. At any rate the car has the potential to be faster than it was when he ran 12.6 with it, but the purchase of a house and the birth of his first child has left him with not a whole lot of time to work on the car. He's also driving an 89 caravan with a 2.2 turbo and 5-speed tranny from a shelby Z as his winter beater.

The black omni with the polished custom aluminum intake manifold sticking out of the hood is Russ Jerome's. He's on this board. He sold the Omni and is currently building a Starlet with a similar motor to what was in his omni.
