well everyone, the GTP is getting to be a real peice of shit lately, I have to spend 40 bux on gas every 2-3 days...so therefore its nickle and dimeing me. its not reliable, it rattles like no other ( its GM haha )

im looking for something with the following:

~manual 5 or 6 spd

~rear wheel preferably but I guess front is ok since thats 90% of cars these days

~GOOD HANDLING, im done with drag racing, im going to be more auto crossing this year!!!!

~10-15k range

~moonroof, nice interior, nice sound.

~not TOOOO expensive to mod.

~something somewhat newer ( I have a 97 now )

let me know what you guess have in mind,

thanks

S2000 should meet all of the above rear wheel drive, 6 speed, handles well and can be had for your price range.

Not sure your insurance will be any cheaper with a performance car of any type if an IS300 is 376 dollars a month. Better off buying something slow and unmodifiable and earning a clean record to lower your insurance so you can get a fun car later.

just my 2cents...

88Nightmare

Poncho

personally, I think GTO's are pieces of shit, whats the point of owning a mutt of a car ( cavalier, grand am grand prix ) mix...f that

and its not JUST my record. look up the is300, its the 2nd HIGHEST insuranced vehicle on the market. thats over highend bmws, benz, yada yada yada,

so I dont know what to get

whats a good handling MANUAL car...skip the rwd.

miata is great dont get me wrong, ive auto xed my uncles ( turboed, suspension up the wazoo ) and it was a blast, but its just 2 small of a car for me, and no back seat

and I was stating my opinion about the GTO that is all, as ppl stated there opinions about modding a grand prix. everyone has different taste. also, I know 3 people that have gtos, 2 of them 04's and both rattle like tin cans already. GM has gone down hill on quality. an I already have an 02 z06, thats enough GM for me.

screw the miata, it looks too much like a RX7, RX8, 3,5,6 tribute, etc.

Solstice? but, oh shit, it looks like a gto, grand am, firebird, trans am, sunfire, sunbird, firenza, fiero, grand prix, g6, g8, bonneville, torrent, GTO, vibe, montana, transport, lemans, and catalina.

who would have thought a miata would look like a mazda, and a gto would look like a pontiac?

btw, nice grand am you have.

funny i'm part of the BIGGEST modern GTO forum, and I've yet to hear anyone complain about any rattles, or lack of quality, other than the mismanufactured '06 struts (supplier fault) and strut rub on some '04s.
In fact everyone always states that in vehicle quality nothing else in GMNA comes even close to the build quality, particularily the interior-wise (which would include rattles). Owners often have a f-body or y-body in the family and say the gtslow has a better, rattle free interior.

lol, your screenname is 1quickgtp, and you have a gtp in your sig, but have a z06? wtf, thats like me having a screenname of 90festiva and having it in my sig, "Torch Red '90 Festiva, blown out synchros, folgers exhaust, 50 shot" then be like oh wait i also have a z06. it sure would be in my sig, and i'd get my screenname changed.

yea, today we traded in the junk pony for a ford GT, and sold the cavalier, i mean grand am-prix, errr GTO for a Gallardo. Sorry i get those mixed up, strange, ones a forgettable 240hp family sedan w/ headlight lenses falling off and rear main leaks, and one is an imported 400hp World-Class GT Touring Car -- quite succesful in SCCA and Drift Racing. Hows that grand prix doing in Nascar nowadays?

See ya in your IS300, you'll be seeing mutt taillights well before I finally find traction in third

fd or fc rx7.Im sorry but the requirements you listed cant be met all in one.Either you get a miata but no backseats, an f-body and gas milage doesnt suit you,IS300 and its too much insurance.Maybe what you need is a 2003 Escort ZX2 and just put suspension mods on it or just get the s/r edition with tokico struts and eibach springs stock. Its also got a iceman cold air intake, short throw, borla exhaust, centerforce clutch, and upgraded ecu and its still stock so you could run in the stock class in auto/x.

2001-2003 Audi S4. the TT V6 2.7L AWD 4door. insurance might kill though.

I like my grand am....haha, nice mutt you have :) ( not bashing you dan, jk'ing, so no need to get your undies in a bundle like you usually do ) all GM's look a like...face it.which is one reason why I dont want to be part of a peice of shit corporation that makes 75% of there cars shit! who wants to own a car for 2 years and have it rattle when you go over bumps? when you can own a toyota for instance an it can run strong for 10 yrs a still no rattles ( over exaggeration I know )

Maybe look into a late 90's BMW 3 series. Excellent car, good handling, solid inline 6 drivetrain, some have the adjustable limited slip rear diff. If you can get one that you can turn the traction control off of, its got autocross potential. Spend around 7 to 12 g's, have a car you can put 100k on.

The 5 and 7 series are cool too, the 7 series get up and go but for the life of me I could not kick the rear end out on a 745 even when I pounded it hard into a turn, the traction control wont let it (even turned off) which goes against what I am usually trying to do.

Good cars though, and not a ricer ride import IMO, but something fun with class.

Yeah the sc you can get a loan easily but usually only a 3 year low. but the prices not being crazy your only paying maybe 300 a month. and if you go that route let me know I know i come off as a **** on here usualy but I have tons of experiance with SC's and supra's

I was thinking about an sc300 also!!! that white one at GLD from sound performane always made me bust a nut in my pants...

I was also thinking of a wrx and later on do a 2.5 swap....

hmmm

the 2.0L is a perfectly good motor. They have proven to hold up quite well also. Depending on your driving style however, the trans is a different story. That silver WRX I posted is a GORGEOUS car...ultra low miles also. You can't go wrong. Drive a WRX in the snow just once and you'll be hooked!

It's the number one car on my lot to have electrical issues. They even stump our mechanic and he is pretty good.

the one with the electrical problems :rolf

as for the "gremlins" im reading up on the audi forums, then had problems from 2000 ( first year ) to 2001.5.

2002-04 was fine, from what im reading.

hmmm 460whp s4? for only 18k http://www.audiforums.com/m_427241/tm.htm

Personally, I don't know why you haven't gotten a wrx or impreza yet...inexpensive, somewhat reliable, inexpensive to mod, good handling, easy to work on car. About the only downsides to it in my book are they look like cross-eyed frogs and you have to talk to 16y/o's who think your car is da bomb.

Since your looking at '00-'01 S4's, have you seen this one? 2001 S4 (http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/car/278354796.html)
It doesn't have any mods but why is it so much less (only $4600) than the other's that your looking at? :confused Could be a good buy. Possible right?
