Hey eeveryone......

Well I just found this place it seems pretty cool so far.I have a 91 Regal that I want to turn into a true sleeper....First thing I want to do is swap the 3800 motor to the supercharged then up grade the motor from there. From what I have been reading thats the best way to turn it in to a V8 killer.I allready burn alot of rice and even a few BMW 3 SERIES and etc...

If anyone know knows the best motor to use and where to find it for a good price pls let me know...Plus would like a mechanic that knowS his stuff to swap the motors any help would be great.

Good way to introduce yourself. Tell us about you first and your fast ride. Pics?

I think your best bet might be selling the car you have and buying a supercharged one.

I'd agree with Brad. I think sleepers are very cool, but that just seems like such a pain in the ass. Plus, IMHO a GTP is kind of a sleeper in its own way already.

unless you're a broke ass sub 20 year old, just buy a damn supercharged series II/III car.

91 regal - $2000
proper SII/III L67 swap -$1200-$1500. (to really be right)

now you're $3500 into it, and your front brakes suck, your struts are shot, your leaf spring is about the only thing not falling apart, though the isolaters are long gone your rear e-brake and rear brakes are under powered, your pass door handle keeps breaking in this cold weather, your FE1 suspension is leaking out the struts, the springs no longer want to spring, and your paint being a '91 job is in sad shape and you have rust all over beginning, hidden, or advanced.

now after all this work to your car, you've successfully turned your 170hp powerhouse is a stock 240hp SII/III used L67 thats likely leaking out the rear main seal; thankfully keeping your engine bay free of rust. thats a good thing. All these hours of cussing at the wiring and sensors for not properly jiving, but you've finally got it running somewhat decently. However, now your budget is shot, and you still have JUST a 240hp engine. Sure you have a low 14's sleeper. But just buying a newer one would have achieved the same thing, but in better appearance and shape.

a 97+ GTP/98+ Regal GS can be had for 4-5k nowadays in good shape, better suspension, paint, and interior/exterior quality. plus you're going to have better seals, better NVH/sound proofing, as well as heated leather (if optioned so) and overall better fit and finish.

this is all opinionated, and non-factual. but it's my take. congrats on killing 20 year old Beamers and 305 powered V8s.

alot of use are former FWD L67 car powered fanboys, and we've seen the light.

Brian98GTP above is a good example. played w/ it, got it down to a wheelspinning 13.4??? then said, f-this i'm doing it right, demodded to near stock and got a Camaro SS.

there are a rediculous amount of former GTP/GS owners on the LS1 F-Body/GTO forums.

Well thanks to you guys who had useful input....Maybe I just save up this year for my 87 GN.....I still want to turn the regal in to something but will proubly wait ...

I got the car from my boss who had the car for a year and his bother had it since 91 and he was a mechanic. It only has 50k on it and looks great inside and out.Still rides better than anything on the road....

it's like not to discourage you or nothing, it's just that the kind of work your regal would need is alot. complete engine swap from something totally different. yea, it'll fit, but theres alot more to it.

I was wondering, is this a 2 door regal???

That might be the only case in which this might be remotely worth it. They were handsome cars, the coupes.

Well a little more about my self as asked...

Former Bodyman and painter.Born and raised in milwaukee...I have a had a few Fast cars. The first was a 69 Skylark that my dad built...B4 he passed away at the age of 42. It had a 455 with all the mods and nitrous...My father ran 8.98 in it to weeks before he passed away the best time I ever ran Was 9.255.I took it out alot but I blew the motor and did not have the money to fix it.So gave it to my uncle in Arizona. My Second fast car was a 93 Cavalier Z26 3.1 with turbo,in take and straight pipes...

Well I just bought a 95 Roadmaster..Will just keep the Regal stock as a beater for the winter...I want to know if any one would want to do a gear swap for me or know of some one who will do it for a good price.I already found complete gear swap kit. Including 4.10 Gears:headbang , posi, bearings, etc.For $800 another $60 or so on a custom reluctor I am thinking..But if any one can find or get the parts cheaper let me know..I want to do it end of april start of may...

Thanks

congrats on killing 20 year old Beamers and 305 powered V8s.

There you go again..........trashing the 305s..............:rolf

Just drive your '91 Regal.....its just not worth it in the long run. That is just money you could put towards your GN. As for a '87 GN......get you wallet out or you will be sitting in the same boat that JudgeThis was saying.........old suspension, gaskets, old weak rear-end, needs paint/fix rust, interior, and once you start modding you will need a $1800 tranny rebuild cause you blew it. If that what you want then cool, otherwise get a nice one with low miles($10K+). Just my .02 cents. Welcome to the board!! :D -Nick.

When I get my 87 GN.I want to get one with some mods already and low miles so thinking about spending about 25k or more lol.I want to pay cash for it so it will take a year or so for me to save up.

I still want a buick sleeper so I found the Roadie with the Lt1,100K for miles and only one owner for only 4k.If I put $2,000 in to it I will be in the low 13s right off the bat..Then I will be happy with my daily driver!!!Over time I plan on swap alot of impala ss parts on to her....

Great GM line up you got there Bad Azz!!!Hows that Sunfire?I was never much of a fan of them or,proubly just because I never knew much about them.

I really thought about getting a GS but everyone knows they can be fast!!!!So that is why I went with the Roadie and the true American Muscle V8 and If I ever really wanted to turn this in to a 10 or 11sec car one day it would be easier and proubly cheaper(I think).

I'd vote for saving up for a GN. Chances are you'll be fine with the stock rear and if you save up for a decent one, rust shouldn't be an issue either. They aren't cheap but for the performance, its a good deal. Plus they hold their value.

Much better bang for your buck, not so much a sleeper as a 91' Regal would be but as cool as sleepers are...the GN would be a lil' bit cooler.

Poncho

actually between a roadie and a L67'd regal GS, hell it might be cheaper to make the GS a 10 sec car.

Buick_Guy
03-05-2007, 10:33 PM
But the Regal is not really a sleeper.Thats kinda why got the Roadie. Was for the whole sleeper thing.Every one knows a regal can light some shit up if done up right...Know ones thinking that with the Roadie lol.
