Thats an asnine statement, sorry. Making the Super Bowl is still a great acheivement even if its not the ultimate goal. The Bills used to get alot of crap for losing 4 straight but you know what, they MADE 4 straight Super Bowls. I honestly rather have a team make 4 in a row and lose than make and win only 1. Its the journey of making it there that is most of the fun anyway. I may be in the minority with that feeling but thats fine.

I simply agree to disagree though, with the win-it-all mentality that has teams finishing 2nd out of 30 as a failure. For a few years yes the NFC was better but the Bills were definately better than the Giants in 90' and had a hell of a team from 88'-93' about. Best teams don't always win, generally yes but not always. I'd rather look at a larger sample size. You can make the case the AFC was more competive in those years too, 1-6 playoff teams were at least as tough, the NFC might of had the top 2 teams (49ers/Cowboys for a few years) but after it was a bit weak.

As far as Marino, he had pretty good teams but way too flawed to be a serious contender. To say 1 game make or breaks these guys I simply don't understand. So Roethlisburger is better than Marino, or they will remember him forever because his team won? Brad Johnson is better than Jim Kelly? Ehh. Or Elway was nothing until they finally built a great team around him, instead of a decent but very flawed team with one guy trying to carry them (see Marino).
