im surprised you didnt deck the block to make sure it is perfectly flat.

it didnt need it... i measured it!

its the original motor... it only had 79k on it. every single bearing in that motor was perfect and all it needed was a hone and a little bit of a ridge reem... even then it really didn't technically need it but when you put pistons and new rings in, its a good ideal. the cylinders were a little glazed but you could still see the factory hone job.

nice job, i like how you put in new forged pistons and not boost a stock engine and blow it up.

he already did :rolf

i blew up 2 stock engines:durr one because of a timing problem the second with just seeing how much boost it could take(i made 4 or 5 runs with 13 psi befor it went!)

and there not forged.... there hypernetic. forged are way too expensive and would be over kill for what i am doing! stock rods can only handle 250whp on a good tune. soo i am limited to 200-220 whp. the hypernetic's are light weight and seal really good. they are overall a better daily driver set-up then a forged set-up would be. which is fine, its a saturn.... NOT A RACE CAR:D

:rolf you sure?
i better not hear of you racing anything with it then! :rolf

well i will race anything with anything... i've raced my neighbor before on lawn mowers:rolf i dont care... its the thrill of winning i geuss! and yes my lawn mower has a built motor!:wooo

:rolf yikes!

well i all did was mill the head... port and poshlished it. put a 28mm munik slide carb on it, and took the governor off!:rolf its kinda quick... for a lawn mower!

But it's kindda like a saturn no matter how quick it is it's still just a saturn/lawnmower.

for sure... thats why i could careless... everything i do is out of boredem! nothing i really really want to do. My evo on the other hand was something i wanted to make nice and go fast. i did. right now i am just having fun with other stupid things!

you would have been better off with the stock cast pistons....
hypereutectic are fine for n/a but with a power adder, you better be on top of your tuneup...............
those are very brittle.

stock are weak and have a really small ring land on the top. they tend to crack more easily then the ones i have. stockers are 9.5-1 and these are 8.5-1. also if i can get a pic i will set the stockers vs the new ones. they arent anything much over stock as i implyed earlier. these were actually cheaper then getting a factory replacement piston! also i am not making a rocket ship.... just a "quick" dd:D

and i know hypers are bad for nitrous and arent the greatest for boost... but your kinda limited when your buying any type of part for a saturn... its a throw away car!

just to give you an idea... forged pistons for my car are $850 and ross is th only one who has made them so far. i could go to another company with specs and such and have them make custom pistons but that is wayyy to much work and money for a saturn!

I'd be more inclined to run standard cast pistons than hyperyouwreckedits. Its hard to say in your situation though, the heavier ringlands are better, but now you may have to worry about blowing a big hole through the middle of the piston. Hypers really aren't good for any power adder combo because of their higher silicon content. Good luck with the project though and be sure to always err on the side of caution when tuning, one good ping and you may be looking at a grenaded piston. FYI just wanna make sure you know I'm not trying to dump on your project or anything. I'm really enthused by this project its cool and different :thumbsup

I already know. i have built boosted engines before with hypers.... as long as i keep it under 8psi and a mild tune it will be fine. i have had good luck with these particular pistons. I know you and another member are warning me about these just for a heads up.... but i already know! They will work for what i am doing:thumbsup

thank you for everyones input! i like to discuss things! just dont talk to me like this is my first motor/build that i have ever done!

what did you run stock, then with with upgrade how much did you gain with the turbo?
I remember one saturn running around here.. it was a 4 door and green that thing was crazy fast....

do you have pics with the last setup???? very interesting build:thumbsup

runnning stock with my girlfriend driving... (6-puck clutch and such) Street tires... she went 15.9 at 89 with like a 2.4 60ft:rolf

when i ran it 2 years ago on my old set-up i went 13.8 at 103 with a 2.4 06ft(street tires:flipoff2: ) at only 5PSI!!!!!! i would usually run 8psi but i couldnt get traction for sh!t at the track.

the green 4 door was mike (aka boostedsl2) he has recently moved to GA. but he had a fully built (forged) motor with a hell latta custom sh!t. he dyno'd 340hp... he wasnt much in to drag racing... he was a roll racer. That thing was F'n NASTY fast!

here are a few pics from the old set-up
this i when i let it sit for a month... the header rusted and such... ugly!
