After finishing second last season as a rookie in the Fun Ford Weekend (FFW) Pro 5.0 class and becoming the first woman ever to make a six-second lap and go over 200 mph at a FFW event, Columbus, GA's Erica Ortiz plans to keep the momentum going in '07 with significant upgrades to her racing program.
Ortiz, 26, managed her impressive Pro 5.0 debut season with an outdated steel-roof-and-quarter-paneled '86 T-Bird running a stock-block and cast crank BBF 460 under the hood, but this year will have a sleek, new VFN Fiberglass-built 2007 Mustang body on a revamped Parker Chassis frame powered by a Ford aluminum-block engine put together by Al Moody Sr.
Also for 2007, Houston-based spark plug distributor Brisk USA has signed on as a major sponsor of Ortiz's Horsepower & Heels team, which plans to campaign this year in FFW Pro 5.0, ADRL Pro Nitrous, and NOPI Pro Outlaw action.
