You Drive a Honda Civic
Not a Race Car

Why are people so obsessed with making their cars look like they're faster than they really are? It's not just Civic owners, it's people with Neons and Hyundais too. They go all out and buy new rims, tint their windows, add fins, paint stripes on their car... why? It's old. You drive a shitty car, deal with it. Mitsubishi Eclipse owners are some of the worst offenders. What's the point of dumping all this cash into modifications when it won't significantly change the performance of your vehicle?

It's ironic that with all the money that these morons dump into modification, they could have saved up and bought a real sports car in a couple of years instead of pretending like they drive one now. It doesn't matter how big your fins are, it doesn't matter how cool your rims look, it doesn't matter how much noise your muffler makes. You still drive a shitty car. Period. End of story.

The other day I pulled up next to some jackass in an intersection. He started to rev up his engine and roll back and forth. I turned my head towards him, glanced at his car, glanced at him, rolled my eyes and turned back to the road. This pissed off the driver and as soon as the light turned green, he went peeling off. Way to go jackass. Now what did he prove? A) That his car is so fast and powerful, that he can even beat people who aren't racing him. B) That he's a wise investor for buying those rims, because the ones he had just weren't cutting it. C) Those stripes on his car look sharp and hide the fact that it's still just a Civic or D) That he's a dipshit.

Why didn't I race him? Because I don't drive a sports car and I know it. I could pretend I drive a sports car, just like anyone else. I could put giant fins on my car and pretend it's a jet or whatever the hell they think putting huge fins on a car accomplishes. Or I could quit pretending and just drive my damn car to work and school. Watching people race in Civics is like watching people race in minivans. I suppose the competition is there, but it's anti-climactic, like watching two geriatrics playing golf. It's a race where even if you win, you lose.

What's the point of having a fast car anyway? Is there some legal speed that they're trying to reach that they can't seem to do with normal cars? Even if your car can go more than 200 mph, you have to break the law (more often than not) to do so. Way to go dipshit, you spent your life savings on something you can't use. Worthless.

Sadly, I've seen just as many dumbfvcks doing the same to American cars. If thats what they want to spend all their money on then let them. Many companies are benefiting from ALL the people out there who "rice" their cars. Wish I would have invented garbage like wings and "dubs" <------I'd like to shoot the a-hole who made that term.

Just my opinion and I'm not out to offend anyone...

it's sad. nicole tells me she gets stalked all the time.

Hell just last weekend, I was headed to Milwaukee on the freeway and some jack ass was riding my ass, got over, decided to pace me for a mile, then took off. what did he prove? I was already doing 80 (15 over) in traffic, and his Madza 6, while being similarly powered, didn't impress me.

Then later, somebody in a non-WRX subie wagon thinks I'm out to play, hello, we're on the freeway, it's busy, go away.

Nightmare, what were you rollin' in at the time? Thats one thing i hate about the mustang, it's an attention whore. everyone expects me to be racing down the road like an idiot with them.

There is a guy in town here with a 96ish Mustang V6 with an aftermarket ground effect kit, fart muffler, stupid rims, BIG wing, with an orange paint job, and orange accent interior to match. I went to a local car show and he had it in the show?? :sgay How can someone think a car like that is cool? I would have to say that Domestic guys with all sorts of "ricer" crap on their cars has to be the stupidest thing ever. Chevy Cavaliers are the worst offenders!!!! :chair:

thats what i hate. only thing ever slated for ours is tint and 1/4 window louvers.

btw, whats up w/ your car?? gold rims, but the silver interior, no fogs, '86 Hatch, white headlight buckets too, TA shifter????

I love the car though. I love em' to death. Hell even if those 305s are 15/16 second cars, i still love em. Whats done to the car??? details. not a G92 car though, huh?

my original post in this thread is not a story I wrote, it was taken off a website. I just like that guys views on life so I thought I'd share it. But Ive been approached by people who think I want to race. It's been happening a lot ever since I got my exhaust done on the truck. I like the tone of my exhaust, but I doubt it did anything to me for performance. But thats not what others think :D Hey man nice ehxuast, lets race. Then I have to say your honda civic before your ugly widebody kit, wing, and stormin norman hood (yeah I saw a civic with one) weighs about half of my truck, go away. then they rev up and peel off. way to go.

I had a Chevy Prizm try to race me in my fuggin Ford Escort wagon. idk what those things are packin under the hood, but I know my 1.9 liter rippin out 85hp at the flywheel has nothing to prove. Leave me alone (for the records, I could not confirm if the driver of the prizm was joe reichard or not)

Right now I think the Aura has like 815 miles. Of that 815, I got to drive about 100 miles of it. I ran it up to Port Washington one day and ran it out to Oconomowoc another time. Thats about it. And I was challenged to race twice in it. Once going up to Port, the other going to Ocnomowoc.

I guess the main thing that bothers me is how many fatalities ive seen from street racing. I know this may spark up attitudes, and we all may or may not have done it at one time or another, but I think most of us got smart and realized it is dumb, it can kill someone. I would hate to lose a loved one. Mother, brother, girlfriend, anyone. No one should have to go through that kind of pain. And it bothers me that 8 times out of 10, the cars street racing are imports of some sort. And its not a stereotype when those are statistics.

part of the age, every time i or her have been "challenged" in the mustang, it was a younger kid.

only got challenged twice in the trans am, and both times high school kids w/ civics, all i needed to do was pop it in neutral and rev it.

and as for the GTO, it either flew under the radar or got respect, as i was rarely challenged, and every time, it was something I wouldn't f-with if i were in another car.

you can only hear "light em up" so many times till you're like "STFU, otherwise pay for my tires!!"

It has the correct shifter on it now. :thumbsup The RPO code says the interior from the factory was grey and not gold??, I know the current seats are not stock, recovered? Someone put aftermarket fog lights on it, I ripped those out, looked terrible. The car is a early '87, some early '87s got stuck with the left over '86 hatches. White buckets because when the car was repainted they didn't paint the buckets for some reason. I have checked the RPO codes and everything on the car is correct besides what you pointed out. Stock color is white with gold, 8 speaker bose stereo, overhead console, power seat, self dimming mirror, Iroc-z package, and it is a G92, G80, J65. The thing I liked about the car was all the options, 4 wheel disc brakes and the stock 3.23 posi. The car ran a 14.8 in quarter last year with just Long tube headers, full exhaust, & filters. She still needs a lot of TLC, but I have a soft spot for the Irocs.:headbang -Nick.

good thing you got the G92, the baby cammed 305/baby geared is pitiful.
Only thing I hated about my Trans Am, was that damn 2:73 ratio, only minorly barable behind the 357.

Ditching or keeping the 305?? I recommend ditch, as I learned, even a bafoon like me can do a 305 to 350 swap (kept the TPI)

either way, go get your collector plates, as it's officially a collector @ 20 years old, and like you I have a special love for third gens, especially t-topped cars.

Keeping the 305 for now. It runs to damn good. Rebuilt about 25K ago. Not sure what cam it has in it. I am suspecting pretty close to stock. Would like a 350 sometime in the future. Glad to see you sold your Trans Am finally, was a good price. :thumbsup

all this talk about ricers reminds me of this time back in spring. i just got my camaro so i went up to the highway and some mexican kid driving a rusty as hell honda kept messing with me. he had a fart can and rims you no the whole package. next thing you no after ignoring this kid for like two laps we hit a light and he starts talking crap. the kid told me i could of got a faster honda for what i paid for my camaro. then he told me he gets 30 miles per gallon. wtf! i then beat that car using cruise control. i hate ricers like that
